      John Laing plc to invest in third major schools project in Scotland

John Laing Plc welcomes the announcement that the InspirED consortium has been
named preferred bidder for the South Lanarkshire Schools Project.

As a partner in the AMEC led consortium, Equion, the accommodation and
facilities management division of John Laing plc, will invest around #7 million
(33%) in the project to deliver 17 new schools and two refurbished schools for
South Lanarkshire Council.

Andy Friend, CEO commented:

"This is a significant project and the first in which John Laing will be
co-investing with AMEC. It is also Laing's third major schools project in
Scotland alongside our existing work to develop 46 schools in Edinburgh and
Glasgow. We look forward to working towards financial close with our partners
and the Council and developing a successful project for the benefit of the South
Lanarkshire community."
