Red Hat, which was recently named one of the world's most
innovative companies by Forbes, has a long history in the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with its existing 175,000 square
foot worldwide engineering and product headquarters located in
Westford, Mass. The Boston facility will add 40,000 square feet to
Red Hat’s footprint in Massachusetts. Boston was rated as one of
the world’s best tech hubs in 2015 by Expert Market, a business
consulting firm, and is home to several world-class universities.
With its presence in Seaport, Red Hat plans to be an active member
of the Boston technology community.
Executive Briefing Center
The Boston facility will feature a world-class Executive
Briefing Center that will deliver an innovative, interactive and
immersive experience that brings open source innovation to life by
showcasing Red Hat’s full portfolio of enterprise-class open source
software and creates collaborative experiences that embody the open
source approach. Visitors - who are expected to include senior
executives from many of the world’s largest and most innovative
organizations - will have an opportunity to learn firsthand how
open source can drive innovations across industries and understand
Red Hat’s initiatives to advance the technology industry with its
open source leadership to address customers’ business
challenges.
Red Hat Open Innovation Labs
In April 2016, Red Hat introduced Open Innovation Labs, a
residency-based initiative for helping customers jumpstart modern
application development and gain the skills and tools to accelerate
innovation in the future. Red Hat Open Innovation Labs participants
learn how to build and containerize applications on Red Hat
OpenShift Container Platform, while working closely with Red Hat
subject matter experts to understand and integrate DevOps
approaches and methodologies. Red Hat's new Boston facility will be
the first U.S. east coast location for Red Hat Open Innovation
Labs, and its largest facility to date.
Red Hat Engineering Lab
As an expansion of its worldwide engineering and product
headquarters in Westford, Mass., Red Hat’s new Boston-based
Engineering Lab will focus on research and new development around
emerging open source technologies in a collaborative development
environment designed to foster and accelerate open source-based
innovation. With Boston's vibrant high tech communities and
renowned universities, this facility will provide a
state-of-the-art environment for research and development.
Co-locating the Engineering Lab with Red Hat Open Innovation Labs
will provide a unique opportunity for collaboration and joint
development between Red Hat engineers, customers, and partners.
