Company launches new campaign highlighting
network improvements and incredible value for New Yorkers
Go big or go home. Sprint (NYSE: S) today announced a new
campaign aimed at getting more customers in the New York
metropolitan area to switch to Sprint. The “Go Big” campaign comes
after the company has made significant investment in New York City
to improve its network, offer customers unbeatable value and create
an incredible customer experience.
During the past few months, the company has made strong
increases against important wireless industry metrics including
market share, subscribers, device sales, customer experience and
network performance. The kick-off of the New York-centric campaign
includes new advertising throughout the city, including some of its
most iconic locations, an employee rally and the ringing of The
Opening Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange.
“There’s only one New York and New Yorkers deserve the best
Sprint has to offer,” said Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. “A few
months ago we created a dedicated team on the ground in New York to
understand the needs of New Yorkers and win locally. The New York
market is critical to our success and I’m so proud of the entire
team for what they accomplished in such a short time. We’re not
satisfied so we’re doubling down on our efforts in the Big
Apple.”
As a result of investments made locally, New York City area
customers are experiencing faster, stronger, more reliable service
than before with the Sprint LTE Plus Network. In 2016 Sprint has
doubled the peak download speed and capacity of its 2.5GHz cell
sites across the New York metropolitan area with the deployment of
two-channel carrier aggregation – an LTE Plus feature that creates
a wider lane to allow more network traffic to travel at higher
rates, resulting in even faster data speeds for customers. Sprint
has started to deploy three-channel carrier aggregation in
high-traffic markets such as New York City which will provide peak
download speeds of more than 200 Mbps on capable devices when
available.
Sprint has continued to invest and improve its service in public
venues across the city. The company has deployed high-speed 4G LTE
at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and inside the Queens Midtown
tunnel this year and expects to do the same in the Holland and
Lincoln tunnels in the coming months. Sprint installed a new 4G LTE
indoor wireless system at Prudential Center Arena in Newark, NJ,
and was on-air with new 4G LTE service at the grand opening of the
Oculus, kicking-off of the first major phase of the World Trade
Center Transportation Hub and Mall. Sprint continues to lead
efforts to bring 4G LTE to the entire New York City subway system
with more sites on-air than any other carrier.
“As New Yorkers, we are proud to say that Sprint has never been
better here in New York City, and with the continued work of our
terrific team, we are getting better every day,” said Karen
Paletta, Sprint president, New York and Philly tri-state region.
“We invite customers from other wireless carriers – including
former Sprint customers – to give us a try by visiting one of our
hundreds of area locations, to learn more about everything we
offer: the latest devices on our fast LTE Plus network, great
service and huge savings, all with our 30-Day Total Satisfaction
Guarantee.”1
It’s a great time to switch to Sprint as the company offering
the best value in wireless with its incredible plans including 50%
off most current Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile standard rate
plans, with savings until May 31, 2018,2 and Unlimited Freedom, the
most inexpensive unlimited data plan with no access charges or
hidden fees.3 One New Yorker who recently made the switch is
featured in the company’s new marketing campaign across the city:
Paul Marcarelli, the guy who used to ask if you could hear him for
Verizon. Paul is pictured standing in front of various city
locations – Times Square with costumed performers, a pedicab and a
bodega ATM, for example – reminding savvy New Yorkers that they
shouldn’t “get hustled” into paying more for their wireless service
when there’s only a 1% difference in network reliability among
carriers.4 The campaign includes radio, digital and out-of-home ads
in high impact and high-traffic locations such as Madison Square
Garden, Bryant Park, Port Authority and Barclays Center.
