PositiveID Corporation ("PositiveID" or the "Company") (NASDAQ:CHIP) announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with the Health Network of the Palm Beaches ("HNPB") to combine efforts on the technological development, implementation, distribution, access and use of PositiveID’s Health Link personal health record (“Health Link”) within the medical facilities, physician networks and related healthcare providers participating in the Southern Florida Regional Heath Information Organization (RHIO). The partnership will initially focus on the county’s safety net clinics including FoundCare, Community Health Center of West Palm Beach, FAU-Westgate and FAU-Diabetes Clinic.

PositiveID and the HNPB also intend to advance the interoperability of Health Link with the electronic medical record (EMR) systems utilized in the other RHIOs throughout the State of Florida, thereby making Health Link accessible to all participating medical facilities, healthcare providers and patients.

RHIOs are the building blocks of the proposed National Health Information Network (NHIN) initiative proposed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. To build a national network of interoperable health records, the effort must first develop at the local and state levels. The concept of NHIN requires extensive collaboration by a diverse set of stake holders.

Scott R. Silverman, PositiveID's Chairman and CEO, said, "This partnership with the Health Network of the Palm Beaches not only enables us to provide Health Link to a broad group of patients, but it also will help us continue to improve Health Link’s interoperability, a key component of its future success. By ensuring seamless communication between Health Link and the EMR systems currently in use in doctors' offices and hospitals throughout the state, we can gain significant traction in the product's roll-out. We are proud to partner with a community organization representing a large group of individuals and believe our relationship will provide a benefit to both the community and our Company."
