Currently none of the 15 markets that we track are positive. The cumulative average return on the group stands at a minus 0.982 percent. Manufacturers in the United Kingdom saw their output rise by 1.0 percent in October and 2.4 percent on a year-over-year basis on expectations for a plus 0.3 percent and 0.8 percent respectively. About the only thing planned today is the 11:00 a.m. release of the November Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Index. Activity in the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City region continued to grow in October, although at a slower pace compared to the month before. The bank said that its production index moved to 28 in October from 31 in September and 20 in August. For the record, the 10th Federal Reserve District covers Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Northern New Mexico and Western Missouri. This report typically has little impact on the market. We get a little excitement tomorrow as the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets on interest rates and monetary policy. Then we have to wait until Thursday when Import Prices, November Retail Sales and October Business Inventories will be made known. Friday tops off the week with the Producer Price Index for November, October Business Inventories. Today's key earnings report comes out of homebuilder Hovnanian Enterprises. Currently the Street is looking for the company to post a fourth quarter profit of $2.68 per share. The key concern today is whether the market can overcome the disappointing employment numbers. Early indications are that the answer is "not yet." Futures are fading, overseas markets and the U.S. dollar are disappointing.
