JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS),
The Supply Chain Company®, announced today that SABMiller Latin
America, one of the largest brewers in the region, with a
presence in eight markets and a leading position in six, has
selected JDA’s Transportation and Logistics Management solutions
and the Agile Business Process Platform to reduce costs, improve
service levels and decrease its impact on the environment. The
beverage manufacturer, known for its wide portfolio of premium
international brands such as Aguila in Colombia, Cristal in Peru,
Pilsener in Ecuador and Atlas in Panama, made the selection in the
first quarter of 2010. As a subsidiary of the $19-billion,
London-based SABMiller PLC, SABMiller Latin America operates 17
breweries and 16 bottling plants and employs a team of 16,200
people.
The JDA Transportation and Logistics Management solutions
selected by SABMiller Latin America are designed to minimize manual
shipping processes, determine the lowest-cost transportation
network that satisfies the company’s objectives, enhance customer
satisfaction and drive maximum efficiencies while delivering
world-class service. Supporting closed-loop supply chain management
and accelerating communication between planning and execution, the
JDA Agile Business Process Platform will help the brewer to bring
greater speed, agility, quality and cost efficiency to its supply
chain.
“After an exhaustive, two-year process evaluating eight leading
vendors in the segment, we ultimately selected JDA’s proven
transportation and logistics management technology to enable
optimized transportation plans and fleet utilization, as well as
the technology’s ability to customize company-specific workflows
and multi-tenant capabilities,” said Andrés Peñate, vice
president of corporate affairs, SABMiller Latin America. “With
our expanding Latin American operations and facilities in Colombia,
El Salvador, Honduras, Ecuador, Panama and Peru, we knew that JDA’s
Transportation and Logistics Management suite would support the
activities necessary for us to successfully execute, manage and
monitor our entire transportation lifecycle, and by doing so,
future-proof our supply chain processes and investment.”
Peñate added, “Implementing JDA’s robust Transportation and
Logistics Management solutions will also enhance our business
processes and create sustainable value by synchronizing critical
execution processes that result in optimal cost and
performance.”
Greg Morrison, JDA’s group vice president of Latin America
sales, commented, “In order to successfully compete in the
dynamic beverage industry and deliver a strategic and sustainable
investment, brewers must expand production and meet the rising
demand for its brands. This requires synchronizing the global
movement of goods and information. Leading beverage manufacturers
and brewers like SABMiller Latin America are achieving their
objectives by driving strategic fleet management and global
logistics decisions faster. Leveraging JDA’s industry-leading
Transportation and Logistics Management solutions will enable
SABMiller Latin America to reduce freight expenses and
transportation rates; enhance visibility into freight run rates,
