                               AFRICAN COPPER Plc

                                Grant of Options

African Copper plc (the "Company") announces that on 1st August 2006 it made a
total grant of 7,310,000 options over the Company's ordinary shares of 1p each
at an exercise price of 77.5p under The African Copper plc Unapproved Share
Option Scheme (the "Scheme"). Of these, 5,350,000 options were granted to the
Company's directors as follows:  R Corrans, 150,000,  A J Williams, 150,000,  
M Evans, 150,000,  R Whyte, 150,000,  J A Hamilton, 2,250,000,  D Jones,
1,250,000,  B Kipp, 1,250,000.


Options granted under the Scheme are exercisable in accordance with the Scheme
rules and subject to vesting conditions approved by the Board.
