Basepoint plc ("Basepoint" or "the Company")

Retirement of Director

Basepoint announces that Mr Brian Keys, who reaches the age of 70 in February,
has informed the Board of his intention to retire as a non-executive director of
the Company at the end of the financial year. He will therefore retire with
effect from 28 February 2005.

Commenting on the announcement the Chairman, Viscount Lifford, said "Brian has
been an outstanding supporter of Basepoint throughout the whole of the Company's
existence and was a substantial subscriber in the very first issue of shares
under the prospectus issued in 1988. Since then he has continued his financial
support through participation in further share issues. Brian was appointed as a
non executive director in July 1994 and has provided wise advice and guidance to
the Company throughout the whole of the period since his appointment. The Board
thanks Brian for his very significant contribution to the development of
Basepoint over the years and wishes him a happy and fulfilling retirement."

Brian Keys currently holds 555,500 shares representing 4.95% of the Company's
issued share capital and has said that it is his intention to retain his
shareholding interest for the forseeable future.
