100% of event funds raised support cancer research among Curebound’s six institutional research partners: Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys, Rady Children’s Hospital, La Jolla Institute for Immunology, and Scripps Research

Curebound, a philanthropic organization that raises and invests strategic funding in translational cancer research projects, announced a fundraising total of $3,001,323 from its signature Padres Pedal the Cause, hosted in partnership with the San Diego Padres in April. The event hosted a record 4,100+ participants at Petco Park to cycle, spin, run, walk and celebrate their successful fundraising efforts for lifesaving cancer research.

Now in its 12th year and under the umbrella of Curebound, the Padres Pedal the Cause event has raised $24+ million by mobilizing survivors, families, friends, doctors, scientists, corporate partners, and volunteers – all determined to fund pioneering cancer research and help create cures in their lifetime. To date, Curebound has funded 115 innovative cancer research projects, including six clinical trials.

“Seeing the community come together in record numbers to support promising cancer research affirms Curebound’s belief that cancer prevention and cures are possible through the power of collaboration, community, and commitment,” says Curebound CEO Anne Marbarger. “We are immensely grateful to Padres Pedal participants, donors, staff, volunteers, and the San Diego Padres for their tireless efforts and dedication to seeing a world free of cancer.”

Senior Vice President at the San Diego Padres Tom Seidler says, “The Padres are proud to be long-time partners of Curebound and Padres Pedal the Cause. Curebound has an impressive track record of connecting funds with promising cancer research projects here in San Diego and beyond. Curebound is extremely successful in engaging the community through its well-run, powerful events that give hope to those impacted by cancer. We’re honored to support their life-changing mission.”
