This is also why the predatory salespeople like to target the elderly. They know many of the elderly get that ACP discount and just won't go through the hassle of correcting anything because it isn't worth the ridiculous, completely avoidable, stress. Ironically, protecting the vulnerable from the fraudulent package upgrade tactic is listed on the ACP discount page as a specific protection.

Oh the irony of fed level scams...

FCC rules protect Affordable Connectivity Program recipients by:

Empowering consumers to choose the service plan that best meets their needs (including a plan they may already be on);
Ensuring consumers have access to supported broadband services regardless of their credit status;
Prohibiting providers from excluding consumers with past due balances or prior debt from enrolling in the program;
Preventing consumers from being forced into more expensive or lower quality plans in order to receive the ACP;
Ensuring that consumers are not liable for early termination fees;
Reducing the potential for bill shock or other financial harms;

A less well known fact about CMCSA's current income is that during "covid" the feds started picking up a portion of a lot of people's internet bills. When that ends, many people will not be able to afford to pay comcast.

I also manage a second account for an elderly relative in the burbs and will be cancelling that one as well, as soon as I get out there to set up the alternative. Comcast scammed them last year, and I had to spend over a week sorting that out. I hate this company.

I tried so hard to work with them over the years because I, like everyone else, like to have a dedicate ethernet connection. However, it is just not worth dealing with the actual structure of their company. Their sociopathic unaccountable Salespeople are just one part of the problem. Their overall design is predatory and fraudulent.

The only way they will get my business back is if they prove to me that they fired the scumbag scamming sales rep. He blatantly lied to me in multiple ways in a recorded call. Comcasts salespeople fucked with the wrong two customers. Now they will pay for it.

The fraudulent federal government should go after Comcast for their systemic fraudulent business practices. Their hoodrat sales people knowingly lie to customers, especially to the elderly, because they know how difficult it is to get a person on the phone thru the automated system in order to correct anything or cancel. Go ahead and log in to your account and try to cancel it. There is no option anywhere. You can only change services. Even though they record the phone call and acceptance of the "promotional" terms, they STILL set you up with a higher priced package for their own personal gain as sales people. They expect you to log in later and change the package to the correct one yourself or just get overcharged. That way they still get their credit, or commission, or whatever for the upsell. They deserve many lawsuits as well as class action, government penalties, and boycotting. These are the days to vote with your dollars. Stop rewarding bad behavior.

Right now Comcast is losing over 2,645 TV subscribers every single day. As this pace continues Comcast will have lost over 1 million subscribers in 2019.

You can thank the Fed for printing trillions to keep the markets up but this only increases the wealth of 1% of American Billionaires while Comcast will see more cable tv subscribers dropping as 99% percent of Americans have less money for entertainment.
