Arcadia Resources Forms Strategic Partnership with Physicians
Organization of Western Michigan to Offer In-store Routine Medical
Services SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Arcadia Resources, Inc. (OTC:ACDI) (BULLETIN BOARD: ACDI) , a
leading national provider of home care and staffing services,
respiratory and durable medical equipment, announced today that it
has formed a strategic partnership with Physicans' Organization of
Western Michigan (POWM), a 570-member independent physicians'
coalition and the largest of its kind in the state of Michigan.
Through POWM's partnership with retail supercenter Meijer, plans
are moving forward to open walk-in, routine (non-emergency) medical
clinics inside select Meijer stores in Indiana. Clinics will be
staffed by Arcadia's Nurse Practitioners. POWM will provide medical
oversight and ensure best practices in clinic operations. Initial
plans are to open nine (9) walk-in health care clinics in Meijer
stores located in Indiana over the next 12 months. Meijer is no
stranger to providing top quality and convenient service for its
customers. Offering health care in a non-traditional but more
convenient setting reflects a growing national trend and one that
Meijer is currently providing to its customers in some of its
Michigan locations. "Meijer has always been a trailblazer in
developing new and innovative concepts that provide convenience,
quality and value for our customers," said Stacie Behler, Vice
President Corporate Communications & Public Affairs at Meijer.
Arcadia Resources, Inc. Chairman and CEO John Elliott II said,
"Arcadia's strongest asset, that of human capital, combined with
our reputation for providing professional staffing, durable and
respiratory medical equipment and home health care services, makes
us uniquely qualified to partner with POWM and staff clinics in
Meijer stores. Through our collaborative efforts, we look forward
to partnering in the development of the new evolution in alternate
site health care - the clinic within a retail store." Elliott
continued, "The Arcadia-POWM alliance empowers us to serve yet
untapped regional markets and work with retailers like Meijer.
Meijer has significant brand equity and consumer loyalty, which can
help drive traffic to our clinics, while we provide convenient and
quality health care services for Meijer customers." David Silliven,
Executive Director of POWM, stated, "Meijer is the originator of
the one-stop retail supercenter concept and we believe our health
care clinics are ideally suited for placement inside this highly
trafficked, consumer centered store. With our partner Arcadia, we
are confident in serving communities with the highest quality
health care in a convenient setting. These clinics are designed to
dramatically reduce the costs of routine medical care, while
promoting wellness by offering easy, affordable access to
screening, vaccines and other routine testing." Arcadia Director of
Clinical Services Patricia Slayton, RN, MSN, ANP, will oversee the
program, including recruitment, training, clinical standards and
service delivery. Slayton commented, "Individuals and their
families are seeking neighborhood health care solutions that don't
involve traveling a great distance, spending hours in an emergency
treatment facility or hospital, or paying hundreds of dollars for
routine treatment. Our walk-in clinics at Meijer stores can help
resolve these long-standing issues." The walk-in clinics will offer
routine medical services, such as the treatment for ear infections,
scrapes, and minor injuries. Additionally, the clinic will provide
vaccines and routine screening, such as cholesterol and blood
pressure, without an appointment and with little or no waiting
time. Arcadia's Nurse Practitioners will staff the clinics and have
the ability to write prescriptions when appropriate. Since the
clinics are located inside Meijer stores, prescriptions can be
filled on-site at the Meijer Pharmacy, providing the ultimate in
convenience for customers. About Meijer Based in Walker, Michigan,
