eMagin Corporation (AMEX:EMA), a leader in virtual imaging
technology, is showcasing its microdisplays and optics subsystems
currently being used across multiple military programs at Soldier
Technology 2005 at the Hotel Le Plaza in Brussels today through
June 23. This soldier modernization and technology forum presents
advanced technologies to maximize the effectiveness of future
infantry soldiers. This year's key topics include power management,
technology integration, human factors, and night vision.
"Communication of critical information - whether for command and
control, targeting or surveillance - is critical for the modern
soldier," said Susan Jones, chief marketing and strategy officer,
eMagin Corporation. "Equally critical is the need for low-power and
compact displays. OLED-on-silicon displays deliver flicker-free,
high-resolution information in the lowest power solution across the
widest temperature range of any display solution in the world
today. That's why more designs to serve these critical applications
are incorporating OLED each year." In addition to its
microdisplays, eMagin is demonstrating examples of prominent
OLED-based customer products designed and qualified to operate in
harsh environments: -- Kaiser Electro-Optics (www.keo.com), the
full-color SO-35 monocular viewer developed for the Land Warrior
program -- Liteye Systems (www.liteye.com), the LE 400 full color
viewer and the LE 500 see-through viewer -- Total Fire Group
(www.totalfiregroup.com), a monochrome, helmet-based thermal
imaging unit Based on the company's patented OLED-on-silicon
technology, the company's microdisplays and subsystems meet the
needs of near-eye applications ranging from night-vision headsets
and scopes to mobile command and control. OLED - Ideal for Near-Eye
Applications Owing to the inherent benefits of OLED technology,
eMagin's SVGA+ microdisplays deliver the resolution, brightness,
and speed for a broad range of defense and security applications.
Because OLEDs refresh in microseconds rather than milliseconds,
eMagin microdisplays deliver images and information virtually
flicker free in near-eye applications. With the world's lowest
power display solution they provide soldiers with critical
information for extended periods in harsh environments, ranging
from extreme cold to high heat. Since they emit light in all
directions, OLED microdisplays accommodate a greater range of pupil
movement than traditional LCDs. Coupled with their ability to
change full color and high gray scale data at rates measured in
microseconds instead of tens of milliseconds - this characteristic
makes them ideal for near-eye viewing. About eMagin Corporation A
leader in virtual imaging technology, eMagin integrates
high-resolution OLED microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems
technologies to create a virtual image that appears comparable to
that of a computer monitor or a large-screen television. With
unique technology for producing high-performance small molecule
OLED-on-silicon microdisplays and related optical systems, eMagin
is the only company to supply these displays in commercial
quantities to OEMs. In addition, the company sells integrated
modules to military, industrial and medical customers, and has
recently announced its first consumer system, the Z800 3D Visor.
eMagin's microdisplay operations are co-located with IBM on its
campus in East Fishkill, N.Y. Optics and system design facilities
are located in Redmond, Wash. For additional information, please
