eMagin Corporation (AMEX:EMA) showcased its organic light-emitting
diode (OLED) microdisplay technology in four virtual imaging
applications at this year's SIGGRAPH Cyberfashion 4 event Wednesday
evening at the Los Angeles Convention Center. "Cyberfashion lets us
visualize a future where virtual imaging is ubiquitous," said Susan
Jones, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, eMagin
Corporation. "Our OLED microdisplays deliver the high-color,
high-contrast content that make virtual imaging compelling." eMagin
displays were highlighted in four applications in the Cyberfashion
event: -- The eMagin Z800 3DVisor, which first became available at
the end of June, provides a view equivalent to a 105-inch screen at
twelve feet in both 2D and 3D modes. Its high-speed head tracker
enables 360-degree virtual-surround viewing. Completing this
experience is an integrated, audio system with high fidelity ear
buds and a built-in noise-canceling microphone. In addition, the
Z800 3DVisor delivers this experience while drawing its power from
any standard USB port with no additional power sources. The Z800
3DVisor allows PC users to have large private screen views and PC
game players to step virtually inside the game. -- Total Fire
Group's Fire Warrior Micro Thermal Camera was modeled by Eric
Gradman, of the popular Los Angeles based band "Mutaytor," wearing
professional fire fighter gear provided by L.N. Curtis & Sons,
Seattle, WA and the Poulsbo, WA Fire Department. The Fire Warrior
employs a state-of-art bolometer to collect critical information
and display it through a hands-free virtual imaging module
developed by eMagin. The camera lets firefighters see through smoke
and darkness to locate hot spots, perform search and rescue, or
find their way to safety. The infrared camera runs up to four hours
on two AA batteries. In addition, the camera's (OLED) display
starts delivering data on startup, even at temperatures as low as
-40 degrees C. -- Liteye Systems' LE500 provides a
high-performance, rugged package based on patented optics and an
eMagin SVGA+ OLED microdisplay. The LE500 features user-selectable,
see-through or occluded capability for augmented reality
applications. Liteye developed proprietary optics specifically to
further enhance the contrast and clarity of the eMagin OLED
display. -- eMagin's prototype(TM) eGlass monocular personal
display system runs off USB power, weighs under 3 ounces, provides
high speed video using OLED technology, and permits users to see
the equivalent of a 105 inch virtual screen. The eGlass display is
designed for use in mobile industrial and commercial applications
requiring access to high information content hands free data and
video. In addition, at the SIGGRAPH exhibition this week, 5DT
(Fifth Dimension Technologies) featured its OLED based 800-40 Head
Mounted Display (HMD) which provides for user configurable
immersion levels. Other features are adjustable top/back ratchets,
a mounting base for head trackers and a flip-up mode for reality
checks. 5DT has developed simulators and systems in the following
fields: Animation, Automotive, Aviation, Defense, High Voltage,
Industrial, Landscape Technology, Marine, Medical, Mining and
Visualization. "It's exciting that while these eMagin-equipped
products let us glimpse the virtual future of imaging and
computing, they are available now," said Jones. "These products
provide greatly enhanced personal mobility with virtual access to
high resolution images, complete web pages, documents, and personal
entertainment." Produced by Psymbiote and charmed.com, the annual
high-tech fashion show was held in conjunction with the SIGGRAPH
2005 International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive
Techniques. About eMagin Corporation A leader in virtual imaging
technology, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays,
magnifying optics, and systems technologies to create a virtual
image that appears comparable to that of a computer monitor or a
large-screen television. With unique technology for producing
high-performance small molecule OLED-on-silicon microdisplays and
related optical systems, eMagin is the only company to supply these
displays in commercial quantities to OEMs. In addition, the company
sells integrated modules to military, industrial and medical
customers, and has recently announced its first consumer system,
the Z800 3D Visor. eMagin's microdisplay operations are co-located
with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, N.Y. Optics and system
design facilities are located in Redmond, Wash. For additional
