eMagin Corporation (AMEX: EMA), a leader in virtual imaging technology, is providing its microdisplays for Simrad Optronics' LP10TL Target Locator. The LP10TL is a fully integrated fire control solution. The LP10TL provides instant target coordinates and fall-of-shot correction. The device is menu-driven and works well with field measurement devices, thermal cameras, terminals, gyros, and similar equipment. Providing dual 7x or 12x magnification and operating effectively from temperatures as low as -30 degrees C, the target locator system also incorporates GPS, digital magnetic compass, and a high-resolution OLED display. Its modular design offers a large number of possible configurations to meet each customer's specific requirements. "The LP10TL represents a major step in laser range finding design," said Eirik Malterud, Marketing Manager, Simrad Optronics. "We wanted to give the modern soldier every advantage in a combat situation where every shred of information is vital. That's why clear, quick display of information is so important. There's no need to plug the device into a computer to reprogram it in order to site the target or access the menus. "We're pleased that eMagin displays meet the rigorous needs of Simrad and its customers," said Susan Jones, executive vice president and chief strategy and marketing officer, eMagin Corporation. "We consistently strive to ensure that our technology meets the most stringent performance requirements - particularly for low-power performance under adverse conditions." eMagin is the only company to commercialize active-matrix OLED microdisplays. OLED pixels refresh up to a thousand times as faster than LCD pixels. And because eMagin's patented architecture buffers data at individual pixel sites, the image delivered is flicker-free. Because OLED materials emit light, OLED displays are thinner and consume less power than conventional LCDs. In addition, OLED displays offer higher contrast and a wider dispersion of light, making them more comfortable and usable for near-eye applications. About Simrad Optronics Simrad Optronics ASA is today one of the key suppliers of military and industrial electro-optical instruments in the world. The company is situated in Oslo, Norway, with a subsidiary in Crawley, England. Simrad Optronics is a public company on the Oslo Stock Exchange, Simrad has been co-operating closely with the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment and the military users as well as with the industrial environment since the very beginning in 1969. In this way technical know-how as well as practical experience have been made available and incorporated in the instruments manufactured. Innovative research and development combined with the company's ability to diversify into new fields have resulted in a wide range of products, which are world leaders in their field. About eMagin Corporation A leader in virtual imaging technology, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems technologies to create a virtual image that appears comparable to that of a computer monitor or a large-screen television. With unique technology for producing high-performance small molecule OLED-on-silicon microdisplays and related optical systems, eMagin is the only company to supply these displays in commercial quantities to OEMs. In addition, the company sells integrated modules to military, industrial and medical customers, and has recently announced its first consumer system, the Z800 3DVisor. eMagin's microdisplay operations are co-located with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, N.Y.
