eMagin Corporation (AMEX:EMA), a leader in personal display systems
and OLED microdisplay technology, will provide several thousand
microdisplays to Icuiti for production of its Tac-Eye (tm) display
system. The agreement calls for an initial delivery of one thousand
units with additional units to follow. Designed for the U.S.
Military with partial funding from the Air Force Research Lab Human
Effectiveness Directorate (AFRL-HE) and the US Special Operations
Command (USSOCOM), the Tac-Eye display system is designed for
maximum efficiency in today's demanding battlefield environments.
The system can be mounted on a helmet or goggles. Icuiti developed
the system over three years, working with military personnel to
ensure that the system meets their needs. The Tac-Eye system
combines ultra-low-power electronics and eMagin's industry-leading
OLED microdisplays to deliver up to six hours of operation on a
lithium battery. Brightness controls allow the operator to adjust
for lighting conditions, daylight to darkness. Its high-contrast
SVGA (800x600 triad pixels) OLED display combines with Icuiti's
Quantum Optics (tm) to provide imaging from a wearable computer,
laptop, thermal imager or vehicle-mounted computer system.
"Designing and building the Tac-Eye system led us to evaluate every
component and material to ensure optimal performance under extreme
conditions," said Stephen Glaser, vice president of sales for
Icuiti's Tactical Display Group. "eMagin's OLED microdisplays meet
our system needs for power efficiency and performance, and they
deliver high resolution for critical communications." The Tac-Eye
system's composite construction combines battlefield-level
durability and low weight (less than 3 oz or approx. 85g). The
battery/control unit allows for one-handed operation and houses the
connections for VGA and RS-170 video. It accepts virtually any
video source from thermal imagers to wearable computers, as well as
offering three USB 2.0 ports to accommodate different input
sources. "The Tac-Eye system illustrates Icuiti's innovation and
commitment to raising the standard for soldier systems," said Susan
Jones, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, eMagin
Corporation. "Icuiti's choice of OLED microdisplays validates their
position as the high-performance, high-efficiency microdisplay for
soldier applications." OLED - Ideal for Near-Eye Applications Owing
to the inherent benefits of OLED technology, eMagin's microdisplays
deliver the resolution, brightness, and speed for a broad range of
defense and security applications - at the lowest system power of
any near-eye solution. Because OLEDs can change state in
microseconds rather than many milliseconds, eMagin microdisplays
deliver images and information virtually flicker-free in these
applications, making them usable for extended periods with no
adverse effects. Since they emit light in all directions, OLED
microdisplays also accommodate a greater range of pupil movement
than traditional LCDs. The world's lowest power display solution,
they provide soldiers with critical information for extended
periods in harsh environments, ranging from extreme cold to high
heat without additional heaters or coolers. In addition, because
the displays are solid-state, they hold the image, even in
high-vibration environments. About Icuiti Founded in 1997, Icuiti
designs and manufactures personal display solutions for a variety
of markets. The company is a leader in the emerging personal
display market and today ships thousands of display systems to
consumer and military customers all over the world. Icuiti is
currently privately held with offices in Rochester, NY, and Tokyo,

eMagin Corporation A leader in personal display systems and OLED
microdisplay technologies, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED
microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems technologies to
create a virtual image that appears comparable to that of a
computer monitor or a large-screen television. eMagin's OLED
displays have broad market reach and are incorporated into a
variety of near-to-eye imaging products by military, industrial,
medical and consumer OEMs, who choose eMagin's award-winning
technology as a core component for their solutions. eMagin's first
personal display system, the Z800 3DVisor provides superb 3D
stereovision and headtracking for PC gaming, training and
simulation, and other applications. It won the CEA's Innovation of
Year award in the digital display category and won additional
recognition in the electronic gaming category. eMagin's
microdisplay manufacturing and R&D operations are co-located
with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, New York. System design
