PR Newswire (US)
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NowAuto Group
(OTC:NAUG) offers further information about wholly owned subsidiary
Navicom GPS, which announced earlier today its commercial launch of
its new Microburst, EGPRS and q network. To expand on what this
means to the marketplace, Navicom will begin attending a series of
events across the country to promote and tout the benefits of the
Navicom product set. With this product launch, Navicom will feature
its flagship device the Navitraq VI (EGPRS) unit. "The Navitraq VI
(EGPRS) unit will quickly replace and dominate the current analog
Microburst product that 90% of today's GPS providers utilize.
Carriers will have completely phased out their analog network by
2007 and continue to pour millions of dollars into the digital
EGPRS infrastructure. Our product will be able to utilize all
available Digital EGPRS platforms and because of the relationship
we have secured, we are not carrier-specific. This is an enormous
edge for our product since we will be able to utilize multiple
carriers' networks nationwide providing a much more robust coverage
area than analog," said Keith Tench, President of Navicom. The
company will continue to offer a Microburst (analog) Navitraq V
unit to fill customer demands but will begin a focused shift away
from that product set. The market differentiator will be in the
digital unit with regards to its feature-functionality, coverage
and price advantage. "GPS technology has been around for 30 years;
we did not invent it, we are simply manufacturing a product that
utilizes this technology combined with our own state-of-the-art
servers and software platform to capitalize on a marketplace that
is exploding and becoming mainstream," said John Pappas, Executive
VP of Business Development. "In addition, since our manufacturer
does not sell or reproduce this product to any other GPS provider
in the United States, it's an advantage to us to have them as a
vital business partner who has a vested interest in Navicom's
success." Integration Benefits for Enterprise Customers: Navitraq
VI Functionality: The ability to deliver a vast array of data at
one time at a reasonable cost is a key element of the product. With
30 I/Os continually transferring data, the feature set for
application-based services is virtually limitless. Technology
Curve: The Navitraq VI draws such a low amount of power supply that
the lithium ion (built-in) back-up battery can run for close to a
month without a power source to recharge it. It also allows the
unit to be installed on vehicles that require an extremely low
amount of power draw, e.g.: motorcycles, quads, snowmobiles and
various types of portable heavy equipment. The unit by far has the
lowest power draw in the industry. Provisioning Custom
Applications: The unit is fully OTA (Over the Air Programmable).
Not only can you change feature sets without having to
remove/install the unit, you can also send commands to the unit
verifying its accuracy and troubleshooting potential problems.
Hardware Capabilities: Navicom has dual HP servers with mirror dist
back- up combined with redundant direct access internet connections
(2-100mg connections) back-up and control servers based on the East
Coast. Database server is a multi-CPU SQL database for storage of
all subscriber, device, activity and financial information. The
servers are owned by Navicom and the applications and software
designed by the Navicom development team are fully capable of
integrating with legacy systems worldwide. At launch, the q network
and servers will support 100,000 users and 250,000 transactions per
month, both of which are scalable if needed. "As we continue our
transformation to a Tier I provider, it's clear that we are not
just re-branding someone else's product and running it on their
backend server. Our goal from day one was to move away from that
model as fast as possible. The Navitraq V and VI is our product,
running on our software platform that we developed to support the
various applications, running on our backend hardware. We have
direct business relationships with the satellite mapping services
provider, the notifications software provider and wireless carriers
which our device will operate on. This enormous step forward for
Navicom Inc. represents the fundamental change that we have been
anticipating for the last six months," said Tench. About Navicom
