                        TERTIARY BEGINS DRILL TESTING OF

                          NORWEGIAN PLATINUM PROSPECT

  * Four Holes Planned To Test Outcropping Mineralisation And Coincident
    Geophysical Anomaly
  * Further Drilling Planned For Spring 2003 To Test Other Scandinavian
    Platinum And Nickel-Copper Projects.

Tertiary Minerals plc is pleased to announce the commencement of drilling on its
Finnmark Platinum Group Element (PGE) project in Norway.

The drill programme is designed to further investigate the discovery of PGE
mineralisation made by Tertiary in its recent summer field programmes. Those
programmes identified a small outcrop containing low-grade disseminated nickel
and copper sulphide minerals in ultramafic rock. Two grab samples, averaged 2.5
grammes per tonne platinum (Pt) + palladium (Pd) + gold (Au) with a Pt-Pd ratio
of approximately 1:1 Subsequent geophysical exploration identified a zone of
anomalous conductivity associated with the PGE bearing outcrop but extending for
several hundred metres along strike. Previous drilling carried out in the 1970's
within this zone recorded low-grade nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation but
this was never assayed for PGE's. Tertiary therefore considers that the
conductivity anomaly may be due to a more extensive zone of nickel-copper
mineralisation with associated PGE's.

PGE mineralisation is know to exist within Tertiary's various claims in the
Finnmark district and wide intervals of PGE mineralisation have been intersected
in drilling programmes carried out by the Norwegian Geological Survey at both
Porsvann and Karenhaugen. This mineralisation, however, is hosted by small
intrusions and consequently has limited tonnage potential. The current drilling
target is by contrast hosted in a 10km long ultramafic intrusion and the
geophysical anomaly has a strike length of several hundred meters.

The exploration programme will comprise four drill holes, two of which will test
the geophysical anomaly beneath the outcropping PGE mineralisation. The other
two will test it 200m north of the outcrop and 700m to the south. The latter
location is along strike of and to the south of the holes frilled in the 1970's.
Results are expected by the end of May.

This drill programme is one of a number currently proposed over the next few
months to test for PGE and nickel-copper mineralisation on Tertiary's
Scandinavia projects.
