Cirond Corporation Ships Airsafe Enterprise(TM) Network Security
Solution SAN JOSE, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cirond
Corporation (OTC:CROO) (BULLETIN BOARD: CROO) , a global provider
of network security solutions that protect wired and wireless
networks against the rapidly growing threat arising from the
deployment of unauthorized wireless devices, today announced that
shipping has begun on Cirond's AirSafe Enterprise(TM) network
security solution for securing its laptop computers against the
network security threats caused by wireless network equipment
(including "WiPhishing" and "Evil Twin" vulnerabilities). "Earlier
this week we announced that the City of Victoria in Victoria,
British Columbia, Canada was one of the first to implement AirSafe
Enterprise(TM)," stated Steven Arsenault, Executive Vice President
for Business Development at Cirond Corporation. Arsenault
continued, "We are finding a significant amount of interest in the
banking, insurance and defense industries for this type of unique
application. A recent study revealed that over 70 percent of
corporate data is stored on a user's laptop if they are using one
-- making the security of laptop computers in and out of the office
critical. As the number of laptops grows in organizations, so does
the demand from users to be able to use their wireless-enabled
laptop computers on the organization's established network. Also,
office organizations want to ensure their networks are secure, but
they also want to ensure that wireless hackers can be prevented
from using wireless capabilities from a laptop to 'hop' onto the
wired network. AirSafe Enterprise(TM) is a product that can meet
and exceed all of those demands." AirSafe Enterprise(TM)
automatically disables the wireless radio in a notebook computer
whenever the computer is plugged into a wired network. Arsenault
added, "This eliminates the possibility of a user inadvertently
wirelessly re-broadcasting an authorized connection to the
corporate network to unauthorized users. Outside of the office,
company policies can be enforced when mobile users are connecting
to wireless access points at hotspots, hotels, airports or their
home wireless networks. For example, some companies have strict VPN
connection policies when outside of the office, but often enough,
employees aren't aware that the VPN connection did not take place,
therefore making them vulnerable to attack while not having their
VPN enabled -- a term known as 'Naked Surfing'. AirSafe
Enterprise(TM) allows network administrators to specify the VPN and
the amount of time for connection. If the VPN does not connect in a
specific amount of time, the user will not be allowed to access the
Internet at all. Some companies only want to restrict access to
access points that support WPA, however, AirSafe Enterprise(TM)
allows for an entire range of wireless access protocols to be
implemented. It is truly a unique weapon in the fight against
wireless hacking of laptop computers." About Cirond Corporation San
