AEA Technology plc announced on 24 July the appointments of Dr Paul Golby and Mr 
Rodney Westhead as non-executive directors with effect from 1 August 2003.

The following information in relation to them is required to be disclosed under 
Rule 16.4 of the Listing Rules.

Dr Golby was an executive director of Earlys of Witney plc and Armour Barpack 
Limited at the time, and during the 12 months before, those companies went into 
receivership in 1991, as a result of the receivership of their ultimate holding 
company, Grovewood Securities plc, of which he was not a director. He is 
currently an executive director of Powergen UK plc, and was first appointed in 
January 2002 when it was a publicly quoted company.

Mr Westhead is currently an executive director of Ricardo plc Group and a 
non-executive director of Parkman Group plc.
