Four bankers are being investigated as part a probe into
Lactalis's stakebuilding in Parmalat (PLT.MI), a judicial source
said Wednesday, Italian wire MF-Dow Jones reported.
The same person said that the head of Intesa Sanpaolo private
equity within its Corporate and Investment Banking unit, Fabio
Cane, is under investigation for insider trading while the head of
Italy investment banking at Societe Generale (GLE.FR), Patrizia
Micucci, is under investigation for market rigging.
A banker of Lazard (LAZ) and a representative of the three funds
that in January announced they controlled a combined 15% of
Parmalat are also under investigation for market rigging.
The probe on Parmalat started in March following an official
complaint by Chief Executive Enrico Bondi, another person with
knowledge of the situation said earlier in April.
Representatives of Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP.MI) had no comment
Wednesday. Societe Generale wasn't immediately reachable for a
comment.
