Race Oncology’s RC220 trial gets green light
Race Oncology Ltd chair Peter Smith talked with Proactive about the approval the company has received from the Bellberry Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). The approval allows the company to move forward with its clinical trial for RC220, a new formulation of bisantrene. Smith explained that the trial aims to establish the safety of RC220 both as a standalone treatment and in combination with doxorubicin, a commonly used chemotherapy drug. "What we’ll be seeking to achieve is establishing the maximum tolerated dose for the combination of the two drugs together," he said. The study will also investigate whether RC220 can reduce doxorubicin’s known toxicity to the cardiovascular system. Smith highlighted that doxorubicin can cause permanent heart damage, potentially reducing patient lifespan by the equivalent of a decade. The company aims to demonstrate that RC220 can enhance anti-cancer effects while mitigating heart-related side effects. The trial will be conducted in multiple phases, beginning in Australia, with expansion planned into Korea and Hong Kong later in the year. Smith noted that the Cancer Care Foundation is playing a role in patient support and accessibility. For more interviews like this, visit Proactive’s YouTube channel. Element 25’s Butcherbird expansion: what’s next?
Element 25 managing director Justin Brown talked with Proactive about the company's latest regulatory approval for the expansion of its Butcherbird manganese project in Western Australia. Brown explained that the final work approval is now in place, clearing the way for full-scale construction. The project aims to supply both traditional steel markets and high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) for battery production. Element 25 plans to feed a portion of Butcherbird’s output into its planned Louisiana refinery to produce this critical battery material. Discussing financials, Brown highlighted the feasibility study’s strong results, with a capital expenditure of A$65 million and projected free cash flows of A$70 million annually over an 18-year mine life. He also noted that major automotive companies Stellantis and General Motors have committed $115 million toward Element 25’s US refinery, complemented by a $166 million grant from the Department of Energy. Looking ahead, Brown said the company is focused on securing the remaining project financing, with the goal of moving into full-scale construction soon. "This time next year, we should be in production with the expanded facility if all goes to plan," he said. For more insights into Element 25’s progress, watch the full interview. Greatland Gold reveals strong inaugural resources estimate for Telfer gold and copper mine
Greatland Gold PLC (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF) CEO Shaun Day talked with Proactive about the company’s latest mineral resource update and its upcoming dual listing on the ASX. The update confirms 10.2 million ounces of gold and 387,000 tonnes of copper, significantly expanding the company's resource base. Day highlighted that more than 55% of these resources fall under the measured and indicated category, allowing for future conversion to reserves. The company has also added 3.2 million ounces of gold and 117,000 tonnes of copper at the Telfer mine, strengthening its position in the market. "The size of the prize here in terms of life extension is really significant," he stated. The CEO also discussed Greatland Gold’s upcoming ASX listing, set for June 2025, which will broaden investor access and enhance market visibility.
