The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Shell Oil Corp.'s (RDSB, RDSA) on May 5 said its Anancortes,
Washington, refinery had returned to planned rates. The Co.
declared force majeure on crude oil receipts to refinery on April
23 following a plant-wide shutdown owing to a power failure.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said on May 5 that the crude unit at
its Delaware refinery was in restart mode; a key gasoline making
FCCU was back on-line on May 4 following an extended outage. Other
units will be restarted over the next few days. The refinery was
shut on March 4 for economic reasons while work continued, since
Feb. 15, at the plant's coker unit.
Delek US (DK) on May 5 will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to
commemorate the restart of it's 60,000-barrels-a-day Tyler, Texas,
refinery, the Co. said on April 30. The plant was shut following a
fatal fire on Nov. 20, 2008.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on May 1 began about 20-days of maintenance
at a gas oil hydro-desulphurisation unit, a SCOT unit, a reformer,
and units 42, 43 and 45 at its Borger, Texas, refinery.
Valero Energy Corp. on May 1 began 21-days of planned maintenace
at the No. 1 crude unit, the FCCU and an alkylation unit at its
McKee, Texas, refinery.
Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) on April 30 said its Garyville, La.,
refinery expansion project is 85% complete and on track to start up
in fourth quarter 2009. The start of the new units will increase
the refinery's capacity by 180,000-b/d to 425,000-b/d.
ExxonMobil (XOM) shut a CO boiler at a key gasoline-making FCCU
at its Beaumont, Texas, refinery on April 30 for maintenance and
plans to restart it on May 1.
Marathon on April 28 completed repairs at a 24-inch crude oil
delivery pipeline supplying its Catlettsburg, Kentucky, refinery
and began returning the plant to normal operations.
ExxonMobil shut a CO Boiler at key gasoline-making FCCU No. 3 at
its Baytown, Texas, refinery on April 28 for maintenance and plans
to restart it on May 1. The work is not expected to impact
supplies, the company said.
Valero Corp. on April 28 said fourth quarter 2009 turnaround
maintenance at its Norco, La., refinery coker unit would be delayed
from fourth quarter 2009 until first quarter 2010.
Valero Corp. on April 28 said turnaround plans had been set for
its Three Rivers, Texas, refinery. A plant-wide shutdown will begin
in September and last for 24-days. Also, Valero's Delaware City,
Delaware, refinery will undergo maintenance at its FCCU for 42 days
in September, and the No. 1 crude unit and FCCU at its McKee,
Texas, refinery will be shut for 21-days in May, also for
turnaround maintenance.
A hydrotreater unit at Shell's (RDSB, RDSA) Deer Park, Texas,
refinery was at planned rates on April 28 following an unplanned
shutdown on April 18 due to a fire.
Planned maintenance is underway at BP's (BP) Cherry Point
refinery in Ferndale, Washington. A hydrocracker unit and a
reformer were shut on April 15 and are expected to restart on May
24.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) will restart its Kenai, Alaska, refinery
after 30-days of planned maintenance during the first week of May,
the company said on April 27.
ExxonMobil restarted process units, including the FCCU at its
Billings, Montana, refinery last week, the company said on April
27. The work started in early April.
WRB Refining, LLC (COP) (ECA) on April 27 began month-long
maintenance at FCCU No. 40 and Sulfur Recovery Unit No. 34 at its
Borger, Texas, refinery.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on April 27 began 24-hours of maintenance
at its Sweeny, Texas, refinery. Unit 26.1, which was shut for five
weeks of maintenance to perform catalyst change earlier this year,
was shut at around 7:00 a.m. CDT. The unit was not identified other
than by number.
