MILAN (MF-Dow Jones)--Italian telecommunications company Wind
would consider buying Italian communications operator Tiscali SpA
(TIS.MI) if it were for sale, Wind's owner, Egyptian financier
Naguib Sawiris, said Tuesday.
Sawiris was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the
Milano Med Forum 2009.
Earlier Tuesday, an interview with Sawiris published in Italian
daily Corriere della Sera said that Wind is no longer pursuing a
merger with Hutchinson Whampoa Ltd's (0013.HK) Italian mobile phone
unit 3 Italia, but it would consider it if 3 Italia decided to seek
a tie-up with the company.
Wind's parent company is Weather Investment, which is Sawiris'
holding company.
