SEC Makes Promises at
Fintech Conference
The director of corporate finance
within the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) spoke at
the Washington D.C. Fintech week conference on upcoming regulatory
changes. He noted that the SEC plans to clarify securities
classification guidelines for cryptocurrencies soon, and that
further, they will be in "plain English." They hope that the
new guidelines will help developers determine whether ICO may be
classified as a security or not without needing assistance from the
SEC itself: "Once you determine whether you have a security, we're
going to have in that guidance, 'how do I go about registering' and
'how do I go about doing an exempt offering.’”
IBM’s Newest Patent
Application
Augmented reality is an entirely
new field for established norms to adjust to. IBM is now taking
steps to draw the lines between the interactions of augmented
reality and physical reality. The patent describes a method to keep
game players from intruding on undesirable locations. It uses a
blockchain-based method and system of interactions between a
AR-running mobile device and locational database. A blockchain
ledger is perfect to maintain rules that should not be changed, and
in this case is used for a growing list of data records protected
from forgery and alterations.
Coinbase Adds Another
Coin
Now available on the professional
trading platform of Coinbase, Basic Attention Token was given a
major boost. As the native token for the Brave browser BAT
facilitates the peer-to-peer system of payment for reducing
advertisements and increasing recognition for user created content
on the internet. Coinbase announced Friday that it would begin
accepting BAT. In less than five minutes following the
announcement, BAT rose nearly 30%. As with other token additions,
it will be added in four stages to ensure liquidity: transfer-only,
post-only, limit-only, and finally, full trading.
