Generation Gap Shrinking? Students, Parents Largely Agree on Tech Gifts for Graduations - Results of New National Survey from Circuit City RICHMOND, Va., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Parents and students often disagree about everything under the sun. But, as graduation season approaches, a new national survey from electronics retailer Circuit City shows the generations usually see eye to eye on the subject of selecting the best tech gift for graduations. According to the Circuit City "Just what I needed for graduation" survey*: -- Eighty-six percent of students said a computer would be the best tech gift for a college-bound high school graduate; -- Asked the same question, 75 percent of parents agreed a computer would be the best graduation gift; -- Smaller numbers of students and parents identified cell phones, MP3 players and TVs as the best graduation tech gifts. Circuit City surveyed more than 2,400 parents nationwide; more than 2,600 college students also responded to the survey. College students were surveyed because they know first-hand which tech tools are most valuable for their studies. Computers were also the top tech gift pick for students graduating from college. -- Almost half of college students (49%) said a computer would be the best graduation gift; -- Twenty-seven percent would prefer a digital camera; -- Fifteen percent would choose an audio system; -- Ten percent picked a television.
