You are spot on with the fact that those 200 plus employees from that US Mag plant need to continue on their great work with IBAT..They achieve great success thruout with a very large amount of contaminated brine at the US Mag plant, with the results being that the tech was tested/ improved, and the absorbent fibers proved to be highly durable..and efficient in extracting high grade 98% pure lithium bi.. Now that IBAT is battle tested and proven at the commercial scale level.IBAT ..IMO will hook up not only in the smackover regions, but possibly in Canada,East Texas, ..and more..The proof is in the pudding said another wise man here .Great point Trader.Hire up those laid off US Mag workers.

We agree with Jigar Shah that the U.S. must build out its own lithium infrastructure and, to do so, unconventional technologies will carry the day. All eyes are on the Smackover Formation, where southwest Arkansas alone could hold as much as 19 million tons of lithium, according to USGS. We know the region well; 2022 testing there by Galvanic and IBAT showed up to 89% lithium recovery with our proprietary modular DLE system. Now, as the first commercial-scale DLE operator in North America with a mobile plant design, we are ready to roll and scale, including in the Smackover, to supply domestic lithium for EV batteries and grid storage.

The Rincon Lithium Project – a large, low-cost lithium-brine asset located in the heart of the ‘lithium triangle’ in Argentina – will be a valuable source of rapidly produced, high-quality lithium for the global energy transition.
In December 2024, we announced our investment of US$2.5 billion to expand Rincon, representing our first commercial scale lithium operation. Rincon's capacity of 60,000 tonnes of battery grade lithium carbonate per year is comprised of the 3,000-tonne starter plant and 57,000-tonne expansion plant.
The project consists of brine extraction using a production wellfield, processing and waste facilities, as well as associated infrastructure. We’re using direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology, a process that supports water conservation, reduces waste and produces lithium carbonate more consistently than other methods.
This investment follows our achievement of producing first lithium at the Rincon 3000 starter plant in November 2024, only 32 months after completing acquisition of the greenfield project

SWA Lithium, the joint venture between Standard Lithium Ltd. and Equinor ASA, said Wednesday, January 15, 2025 that it has successfully commenced drilling a new well into the Smackover Formation at its South West Arkansas Project.
The well is currently at a depth of approximately 8,000 feet below surface and has a targeted total depth of 9,600 feet. The well location is in Lafayette County, south of Lewisville.
SWA Lithium is also undertaking an extensive field program to re-enter the wells drilled in 2023 to conduct detailed reservoir testing and brine sampling work.
All data gathered from this new well will be used to inform the forthcoming front end engineering design (“FEED”) and Definitive Feasibility Studies (“DFS”).
The SWA team is also conducting an extensive field program at four wells in the proposed first area of operation, The work consists of well re-entry, hydraulic testing to determine reservoir characteristics, and brine sampling and testing. In addition, large volumes of brine have been collected from the International Paper Company (IPC-1) to allow the field-based pilot testing to be operated.
The company said in a statement that work has demonstrated that reservoir properties are better than previously gathered in the preliminary feasibility study, and also, where lithium brine samples have been sent off for third-party analysis, the lithium concentrations are higher than previously published. Key data will be made public when available, and all relevant data will be provided in the DFS later in 2025.

State Oil and Gas Commission unanimously denies royalty rate application for lithium extraction
by Phillip Powell
November 5, 2024
https://arktimes.com/arkansas-blog/2024/11/05/ark-oil-and-gas-commission-unanimously-denies-royalty-rate-application-for-lithium-extraction
The Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission denied the royalty rate application from five companies seeking to extract lithium-rich brine in south Arkansas, a move that will require the companies to come up with another rate proposal and that will cause more delays for the commercial extraction of the mineral.
The five companies – Standard Lithium, Exxon Mobil, Albemarle, Tetra Technologies, and Lanxess Corporation – proposed a rate of 1.82%, which landowners in south Arkansas have argued is too low. During a much anticipated nearly two-day Oil and Gas Commission hearing that began Monday in El Dorado, the companies presented hours of expert witness testimony to make their case for the proposed payout.
The Oil and Gas commissioners voted 9-0 Tuesday afternoon to deny the application. The rate would have been a minimum rate set for over 500,000 acres of land the lithium companies have leased. The royalty rate would be multiplied by the amount of lithium carbonate produced and the price of the lithium to determine an annual royalty payout to the mineral rights owners.
Commercial extraction cannot begin until a royalty rate is set. The companies submitted the application for the 1.82% proposal in July.

US Magnesium will idle operations after laying off 186 workers
KUER 90.1 | By Elle Crossley
Published November 22, 2024
https://www.kuer.org/business-economy/2024-11-22/us-magnesium-will-idle-operations-after-laying-off-186-workers
“Lithium they've produced, as far as the time frame that they've been producing, you're talking in the tune of less than 2,000 tons total ever that's been produced off of the lake,” Stireman said. “Whereas magnesium, when you take into account their magnesium chloride product, you're talking like tens of thousands of tons each year.”
Lithium production is fairly new for US Magnesium, commercial production of the mineral began in 2020.
“In perspective, the 1,500-1,700 tons [of lithium] that they produced over the last few years, most commercial plants are producing like 10,000 tons,” Stireman said. “So in my perspective, they're still working on that technology.”
US Magnesium said in its letter to the state that plant operations would resume with a recovery in lithium carbonate pricing. For this reason, it hopes the layoffs are temporary, but cannot guarantee it.

IBAT deployed and operated their proprietary Modular Direct Lithium Extraction Plant (MDLE Plant)
at their customer’s facility located near Salt Lake City Utah. This deployment represents the first
commercial DLE operation in North America and the only modular DLE plant in the world. Operations
commenced June 20th
, 2024, and ran for 83 days ending on September 11th
, 2024.
• IBAT’s MDLE Plant extracted enough lithium to produce >25 tons of battery grade lithium
carbonate (+99.9% purity) and an additional similar quantity for testing and analysis.
• IBAT & Customer’s operational plan initially targeted 8-12 hours of production per day
o Average production of lithium chloride eluent of 8,000-9,000 (11,000 peak) gpd
IBAT’s MDLE plant started mobilization in the first week of February 2024 in Lake Charles, Louisiana
and took less than 4 weeks to deliver all 36 shipments to Customer’s facility outside of Salt Lake City,
Utah. The next 8 weeks were used to modify ~35% of the facility to accommodate the Customer’s
unique feed stock. The MDLE plant was then commissioned and ready to commence operations in
mid-June 2024.
Feedstock to the MDLE Plant was the sole responsibility of the Customer. Using their proprietary
batch process they recycled their 40+ years of accumulated stockpile ore to create a lithium rich
feedstock with Li concentrations between ~3000 to 5300 mg/L (ppm) (Average ~4000 ppm).
Feedstock composition varied with each batch of ore processed. The IBAT MDLE plant was able to
process this brine despite seeing lithium concentrations swinging by an average of 16% per sample
(1-5 samples/day).
IBAT’s MDLE plant went through ~8,400 total cycles of operation. Analytical laboratory testing has
confirmed that the sorbent saw no measurable loss in capacity between the start and end of
operations despite being exposed to heavy contamination.

Wow, if Im reading what you said along with that article link stated, IBAT produced 5,000 tonnes of battery grade lithium in just 4 weeks after assembling that plant in 10 days at the US Mag site....that would mean it could produce 60,000 tons of battery grade lithium in 12 months! Thats a game changer.. Also, In that article from the link in your post, International Battery Metals is listed as one of the first 6 top DLEs..The companys that we are listed along side of is a statement in itself..Some good news would make for a run of some sorts..Could be an epic run if major contract(s) are made...Even a rumor would march IBAT into the dollars in pps..in a hearbeat.IMO..

For instance, in July 2024, with the aim of growth in production of lithium for electric vehicle batteries to an annual rate of almost 5,000 tonnes within four weeks, the International Battery Metals (IBAT), the Houston-based lithium processing company, introduced its own novel various of a lithium filtration technology that it claims could result in affordable and faster supplies of the metal by using the direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology at a Utah site controlled by magnesium production firm US Magnesium. The company's DLE method also recycles over 98% of water used, which is significant as conventional lithium extraction is water intensive.
That rate of 5000 tons in almost four weeks would be 60,000 tons a year. First time I have seen these numbers.....

Tesla's refinery does spodumene which is coming fom Sayona in Canada. Rumor is they could do brines later others say it will be lithium clays. We will get those answers this year.
Once Freyr Battery plant in Georgia is finished then the brines can flow.
