Tampa Electric Issues Appeal for Energy Conservation TAMPA, Fla.,
Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With the approach of Hurricane
Charley and expected damage throughout the state, Tampa Electric
today issued an appeal to customers to conserve energy, following
an appeal by the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council. Vice
President - Energy Delivery Tom Hernandez said, "We've been asked
to communicate to our customers that everyone should conserve
energy wherever possible, to help utilities keep the lights on
throughout the state." Among the conservation steps being urged by
Tampa Electric include the following: * Keep refrigerator and
freezer doors closed * Minimize use of major appliances * Turn off
water heaters, if possible, and all unnecessary outdoor lighting
and pool and sprinkler pump systems * Keep cooking and bathing to a
