Ilika CEO Graeme Purdy on new scale-up milestone for Goliath battery
Ilika PLC CEO Graeme Purdy talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s latest progress in scaling up its Goliath solid-state battery technology. The discussion focused on improved results from Ilika’s collaboration with the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC). Purdy said: “We’re seeing an improved yield out of the industrialised process,” adding that this reduces waste and lowers costs. More notably, the batteries produced via UKBIC’s process outperform those created on Ilika’s pilot line, showing stronger power density and faster charge-discharge capabilities. Purdy confirmed the project’s shift from process to performance, marking the completion of a £2.7 million grant-supported programme funded by the Advanced Propulsion Centre. He also referenced recent government pledges of £2 billion to back automotive electrification, suggesting that future grant funding could help support Ilika’s product roadmap without shareholder dilution. Looking ahead, Ilika plans to release its P1.5 prototypes—10Ah cells—later this summer. Once enough testing data is gathered, the batteries will be shared with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers enrolled in its evaluation programme. Purdy also teased the release of 50Ah P2 prototypes by year-end, built on insights gained from the Faraday Battery Challenge. Bitwise Asset Management's Bradley Duke still bullish on Bitcoin despite tariff turmoil
Bitwise Asset Management European Head Bradley Duke talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about Bitcoin's resilience amid market volatility and the macroeconomic factors that continue to provide a bullish backdrop for the cryptocurrency. Speaking from Paris Blockchain Week, Duke noted that despite Bitcoin falling from its early-year highs of nearly $110,000 to around $83,000, market conditions remain supportive. He pointed to expectations of inflation, potential global rate cuts, and an expanding money supply as strong tailwinds. “The setup is very bullish at the moment,” he said, noting that supply-side constraints could accelerate any price recovery. Duke also highlighted growing interest from sovereign and corporate investors. He cited discussions in countries like Sweden, France, and Japan around holding Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, alongside listed companies and smaller private firms adding Bitcoin to their treasuries. “Currently, the corporate demand for Bitcoin is outstripping the supply by more than two times,” Duke explained. He concluded by noting the historically low exchange balances of Bitcoin, signalling a lack of sellers. “My feeling is that when it does start to move back up again, it's going to jump up because there simply aren't any sellers,” he added. Hive Digital Technologies completes 100 MW phase 1 in Paraguay
Hive Digital Technologies Chief Financial Officer Darcy Daubaras joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a major milestone: the 100% completion of Phase 1 infrastructure at the company’s flagship Yguazù data center in Paraguay. This 100-megawatt (MW), air-cooled facility is backed by a fully energized 200 MW substation, positioning HIVE for substantial growth in its global digital infrastructure operations. Daubaras confirmed that the completed infrastructure enables up to 5 exahash per second (EH/s) of capacity for next-generation ASIC miners. Currently, HIVE is running 200 petahashes of hashrate at the Yguazù site using its proprietary BUZZ Miners, with an expected ramp-up to 8,000 units online by the end of April. Adding to this momentum, the company has begun receiving shipments of new-generation ASICs, including the powerful Bitmain S21+ miners. More than 20,000 units are expected to arrive before the end of May, fueling HIVE’s ambitious goal to scale to 5 EH/s in Paraguay and 11.5 EH/s total across all global operations by the end of Q2 2025. As part of its operational scale-up in Latin America, HIVE also announced a key leadership addition: Carlos Anibal Torres has joined as Paraguay Operations & Project Manager. Torres brings strategic expertise to support HIVE’s accelerated buildout and operational management in the region. With the 100 MW Phase 1 infrastructure now fully constructed and energized, the company has begun racking and powering miners, signaling the official launch of what is expected to be one of the most significant expansions in HIVE’s history. This development reinforces HIVE’s commitment to deploying high-performance, energy-efficient digital infrastructure across key global markets. #proactiveinvestors #hivedigitaltechnologieslet #tsxv #hive #nasdaq #hive #CryptoMining #GreenEnergy #BitcoinMining #ParaguayMining #DataCenter #Exahash #S21Miners #DigitalAssets #ProactiveInvestors

HIVE Digital Technologies begins mining at new 200MW Paraguay facility, mines 108 BTC in March
Hive Digital Technologies Executive Chairman Frank Holmes joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share a major operational milestone and the company’s March 2025 production results. HIVE has officially begun mining operations at its new 200-megawatt hydro-powered facility in Yguazú, Paraguay. Phase 1 of the site is now energized and operating at an initial production rate of 100 Petahash. The site is expected to scale steadily in the coming months with additional mining capacity set to be deployed in phases. Holmes also announced that HIVE mined 108 Bitcoin during the month of March, increasing the company’s HODL balance to 2,201 BTC, valued at approximately $180 million based on a Bitcoin price of $82,000 as of March 31, 2025. The company saw an average hashrate of 6.3 Exahash per second, fleet efficiency of 20.7 joules per terahash, peak BTC-only hashrate of 6.2 EH/s and BTC-equivalent hashrate of 6.4 EH/s. The launch of operations in Paraguay reflects HIVE’s continued commitment to expanding its global footprint using green energy solutions. The company views the hydro-powered site as a strategic asset that supports long-term growth and sustainability in Bitcoin mining. #proactiveinvestors #hivedigitaltechnologieslet #tsxv #hive #nasdaq #hive #HiveDigitalTechnologies #FrankHolmes #CryptoNews #Blockchain #AIandCrypto #ParaguayMining #GreenEnergy #BuzzMiner #BitcoinUpdate #DigitalAssets #GPUmining #CryptoExpansion
