International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged up 0.2% to 152.20. The European index climbed 0.6% to 146.74. The Asian index moved down 0.2% to 176.36. The Latin American index retreated 0.7% to 203.06, while the emerging-markets index ticked down 0.1% to 294.09.

Nanobiotix was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The France-based biotechnology company surged 25% after it announced a global licensing and co-development agreement with Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Pharmaceutica NV for its cancer treatment.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing edged down 0.5% after reporting a decline in revenue from a year earlier for June and the January-June period.
