Eurostat is slated to issue retail sales data at 5:00 am ET Thursday. Eurozone sales are forecast to grow 0.2 percent on a monthly basis in September after staying flat in August.

Ahead of the data, the euro advanced against the other major currencies.

The euro was quoted at 1.0872 against the greenback, 132.45 against the yen, 0.7066 against the pound and 1.0832 against the franc at 4:55 am ET.
