Accelrys' recent acquisition of VelQuest Corporation has
extended the company's software portfolio into the downstream
pharmaceutical Analytical Development and Quality (ADQ) space. As a
result, this year's UGM will predominately feature life sciences
presentations and is being co-located with VelQuest's annual
International Meeting on Automated Compliance Systems (IMACS).
IMACS is a forum for professionals in life sciences industries who
are interested in paperless execution and documentation of
compliance-based processes to improve operational efficiency and
reduce current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) compliance risks.
With the UGM focused primarily on life sciences, Accelrys will host
dedicated materials science events in the fall of 2012.
"Combining our North American UGM with IMACS enables customers,
partners and colleagues to thoroughly explore technology transfer
and information flow along the entire lab-to-plant value chain,
from product ideation through development and validation to
late-stage quality control and production," said Max Carnecchia, president and CEO of Accelrys.
"The combined meetings also provide an excellent opportunity to
hear more about Accelrys' recent industry-wide call to speed time
to market and improve competitiveness by closing the productivity
gap from innovation through commercialization."
Further expanding on this industry challenge, this year's
keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jason Bronfeld, executive director, preclinical
and pharmaceutical development informatics at Bristol-Meyers
Squibb. Bronfeld will present on How Information Management is a
Key Enabler for Scientific Innovation.
Accelrys customers, partners and solution experts' presentations
comprise a full agenda within five tracks: Analytical Development
and Quality; Informatics & Lab Management for Development;
Informatics & Lab Management for Research; Modeling &
Simulation-Discovery Studio; and Workflow & Automation-Pipeline
Pilot.
