New Version Ensures Consistent Security Policy Enforcement across
the Enterprise SHANGHAI, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BEAWorld
-- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise
infrastructure software, today announced a new release of BEA
AquaLogic(R) Enterprise Security, an entitlement and centralized
policy management solution designed for custom enterprise
applications across heterogeneous environments. BEA AquaLogic
Enterprise Security 3.0 offers significant new features, including
a redesigned and streamlined entitlements administration console,
configurable attribute retrievers for administrators and new
security service modules (SSMs) to more easily secure application
integrations, business processes, diverse application environments
and corporate data stored in relational databases. It also provides
functional benefits to organizations looking to provide consistent
security practices across their enterprise. BEA AquaLogic
Enterprise Security 3.0 is scheduled to be generally available on
December 14, 2007. "When people think about SOA security, they
generally think about message- level security. There is no question
that message-level security is an important part of a SOA security
solution, but there is more to think about than just protecting
messages in transit," said Thanh Tran, senior vice president,
AquaLogic products, BEA Systems. "Organizations need to consider a
fine-grained entitlement management solution that combines
centralized policy management with distributed policy
decision-making and enforcement. This combination, along with the
new improvements in BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Security 3.0, can help
provide better management and control of critical applications and
resources with uncompromised performance and reliability. As a
result, organizations can extend the enterprise's ability to
rapidly adapt to application usage requirements, regardless of
where an organization does business." The new features in BEA
AquaLogic Enterprise Security 3.0 include: -- Single entitlements
user interface for policy management activities - BEA AquaLogic
Enterprise Security 3.0 introduces a redesigned and streamlined
entitlements administration console designed to provide a single
view of entitlements for all applications protected by BEA
AquaLogic Enterprise Security 3.0. This helps large organizations
manage their application entitlements in one place, which can
reduce operational costs with less complexity. -- Configurable
attribute retrievers for LDAP and relational database management
systems (RDBMS) - BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Security 3.0 is designed
with configuration-based attribute retrievers capabilities which
enables an administrator, versus a developer, to specify how
external enterprise information can be quickly integrated with
defined security policies. This helps to lower the overall cost of
security deployment and to greatly increase flexibility as new
applications and data sources are added to the enterprise IT
architecture. -- Extended support for protecting applications,
services and data in BEA WebLogic(R) Integration, BEA AquaLogic(R)
BPM, IBM WebSphere and Oracle RDBMS - BEA AquaLogic Enterprise
Security 3.0 continues to expand BEA's ability to help secure the
enterprise, particularly in non-BEA environments, reflecting the
company's commitment to SOA security and entitlements management.
These new SSMs are designed to easily secure application
integrations, business processes, diverse application environments
and corporate data stored in relational databases. "There is more
to SOA Security than securing the message in transit or at the
edge. To build reusable services, the identity based logic must be
removed from the application into an authorization management
framework," said Earl Perkins, research vice president, Gartner,
Inc. "Taking authorization management out of the hands of
application development teams and centralizing it into a
standards-based framework is one of the first things architects
should be thinking about when designing their SOA." BEA AquaLogic
Enterprise Security 3.0 is designed to help strengthen security and
compliance, increase IT efficiency and enhance business agility by
decoupling security logic from applications and by helping provide
consistent policy administration, enforcement and auditing across
the enterprise. It can help enhance overall enterprise security by
leveraging and extending existing investments in custom and
third-party security technologies through an open, interoperable
and standards-based architecture. BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Security
3.0 is also designed to combine centralized security policy control
with delegated administration, while still providing
enterprise-class high performance, scalability and reliability. For
