Advancing its IT security compliance vision, BindView Corp.
(Nasdaq:BVEW) announced today the first in a series of new products
and services capabilities planned for the balance of 2005. Today's
announcements encompass key offerings based on the company's
portfolio of award-winning IT security compliance products.
"Today's announcements represent an important milestone in the
journey we began six months ago to increase performance across the
company," said BindView President and Chief Operating Officer
Arshad Matin. "Through the remainder of this year, we will deliver
additional new products and services that provide break-through
security compliance capabilities and create superior value for our
customers." IT organizations around the world face intense scrutiny
and a microscopic focus on how they meet the requirements and
complexity of today's multi-regulatory landscape. With technical
standards, frameworks, audit inspections and executive
attestations, compliance-related spending is reaching unprecedented
proportions. According to AMR, a leading market research firm, the
cost of meeting and demonstrating regulatory due care is expected
to hit $15.5 billion this year in the U.S. alone, and, according to
the firm, will hit the $80 billion watermark over the next five
years. "Security incidents, security compliance audits and new
regulations are driving up corporate expenditures, and IT
organizations can no longer address these as separate, independent
issues," said BindView Senior Vice President of Marketing Steve
Kahan. "The rapid acceleration of security threats, costly audits
and the urgent need to comply has raised the bar for how global
organizations in both the public and private sectors must respond.
BindView enters today a new phase in its history, with a
reinvigorated focus on products and services that hit the
bull's-eye in addressing these new customer requirements." New
Products Extending its IT security compliance portfolio, BindView
today announced the availability of new regulatory compliance
content for its flagship Compliance Center product. Organizations
are struggling to comply with complex regulatory mandates, and the
new report views provide actionable IT security controls that are
mapped directly to the regulations. The unique mapping capability
provides IT professionals, business executives and their auditors
with a single view into the combined security compliance posture.
The new reports map regulatory mandates -- including
Sarbanes-Oxley, FISMA, HIPAA, Basel II and GLBA -- to the
industry-accepted ISO 17799, COBIT and NIST SP800-53 frameworks
using the Center for Internet Security's (CIS) Level-1 and Level-2
Benchmarks for the Windows and LINUX operating systems. Platform
coverage includes Windows, LINUX and Sun. Because no technical
standards exist for NetWare, BindView has created its own Security
Essentials Technical Standards for NetWare, based on its long
history of helping to secure Novell environments. (See today's

the public and private sector meet and sustain security compliance
requirements. Ranging from baseline assessments to sophisticated
reviews of an organization's compliance posture, BindView
Professional Services offers prescriptive guidance and security
compliance know-how to address technical, business and operations
requirements for demonstrating due care. The new capabilities
include Security Compliance Power Up, Compliance Review, IT
Security Review, Policy Review, Policy Development, Configuration

an unlimited number of employees. e-learning courses can be

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Arthur Levitt; James C.
