Durango is the Second of Four New Colorado Destinations for Frontier DENVER, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- At exactly 8:51 a.m. MDT this morning, Frontier Airlines began service to its newest market, Durango. The flight was received in Durango at 9:48 a.m. with tremendous fanfare, as Durango entered a new era of affordable air travel. Durango is the second of several new regional markets Frontier announced in February, all of which are shorter-haul markets, better suited to leveraging the economics of the 74-seat Bombardier Q400. A fleet of ten Q400 aircraft are operated for Frontier by Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. subsidiary Lynx Aviation. "We are excited to welcome Frontier Airlines to Durango. Frontier has a finite amount of aircraft available, so we take this as a compliment that they are expanding to our city," said Durango Area Tourism Office Executive Director John Cohen. "The three inbound and outbound flights will have a major positive impact on tourism as Durango becomes more accessible. It's never been easier or more economical to get here from Denver and all over the country." "Today's inauguration is a great step for Frontier Airlines and for the Durango community," said Frontier President and CEO Sean Menke. "Durango is a premier mountain destination in our state, known for its beauty and abundance of year-round activities. Frontier's low-cost, high-quality service will make it easier than ever for people to enjoy this historic mountain town." The Durango Area Tourism Office is launching a special promotion to celebrate the arrival of Frontier's service. Anyone who presents a Frontier boarding pass at the Durango Area Visitors' Center will receive free gifts and big savings from many area businesses.
