Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today
announced the next generation of its Woodcock-Johnson® Assessment
Suite – the trusted, groundbreaking leader in
individually-administered assessments. Announced today at the
National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Annual
Convention in Washington, DC, the Woodcock-Johnson IV offers three
independent and co-normed batteries of measurement that provide a
comprehensive, contemporary assessment suite to measure cognitive
abilities, achievement, and oral language.
The Woodcock-Johnson IV includes a comprehensive measure of oral
language, providing practitioners with insights into a student’s
strengths and the confidence to address potential language
disorders. The new features allow psychologists, teachers, and
speech language pathologists to analyze how a student’s academic
achievement is related to their ability to comprehend oral language
– all grounded in a common normative base.
Ideal for supporting Response to Intervention (RTI) models, the
Woodcock-Johnson Assessment Suite provides three achievement
batteries to measure growth across key academic areas. By offering
the most comprehensive analysis of cognitive abilities available on
the market, the suite evaluates specific skill deficits, strengths,
and students’ basic psychological processes. Through selective
testing tailored to a student’s specific needs, professionals can
more accurately determine interventions.
“This fourth edition is our most comprehensive and flexible
individual assessment yet – one that psychologists, teachers, and
speech language pathologists can rely upon to provide them with
information that is critical to address learning problems,” said
Jim Nicholson, President, HMH-Riverside. “The results of an
evaluation from the Woodcock-Johnson IV will equip educators with
tools that no other assessment can provide.”
Attendees of the NASP Conference can visit HMH’s booth (#213)
for more information on the Woodcock-Johnson IV. Visitors will also
have the opportunity to meet the Woodcock author team, including
Fredrick A. Schrank, on February 19.
