Highpower International, Inc. (NASDAQ: HPJ), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) and lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and related products, announced today that its 504570 model polymer cell phone battery has passed CTIA standards and has received the IEEE1725 certificate.

The IEEE1725 is a testing standard that establishes criteria for design analysis for quality and reliability of rechargeable Li-Ion and Li-Ion polymer batteries for mobile telephone applications. CTIA, which is an international organization representing the wireless communications industry, has implemented a compulsory certification scheme for mobile phone batteries and almost all carriers in North America have implemented this mandatory requirement.

"This certification is another key milestone in Highpower's push to become an international battery player and expand our end markets," said George Pan, Chief Executive Officer of Highpower International, Inc. "Passing the standards set by the IEEE speaks to our high quality products and manufacturing methods. Moreover, this certification is a crucial step in penetrating the Li-ion battery markets in both North America and Europe."

Wenliang Li, CTO of Highpower International, stated, "We continuously focus on improving our R&D capabilities and on the quality of the performance of all our products." Highpower International has previously passed the ISO9001, the UL1642 and UN38.3 certificates.
