i2 Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITWO) today announced the release
of version 6.3.2 of i2 Supply Chain Strategist, a world-leading
solution designed to optimize a company’s supply chain network to
meet their business objectives. Companies in many diverse
industries use i2 Supply Chain Strategist, including discrete and
process manufacturing, retail, consumer goods and logistics
providers. The latest release adds significant new features for
performing optimizations while considering carbon emissions,
sustainability and associated constraints.
New features include:
- Modeling, optimization and
decision support based on:
- Carbon emission constraints
- Carbon taxes
- Cap and trade structures
- Sustainability measures
including water consumption, waste production and labor hours
- Carbon-aware “what-if” scenarios
that consider trade-offs among all relevant costs in the network,
including both fixed and variable costs
“As our customers begin to embrace carbon emission and
sustainability concerns, we’re excited to provide features that not
only show the environmental impact of different supply chain
designs, but allow for the consideration of environmental impact in
optimization,” said Sara Curtis, i2 Supply Chain Strategist product
manager. “While other tools and applications are merely capturing
carbon emissions, i2 Supply Chain Strategist provides features to
actively optimize supply chain networks with carbon emission
constraints, carbon taxes and cap and trade structures.”
i2 customers such as Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, one of the
world’s leading providers of vehicle logistics, has identified the
importance of gathering this important information. “Optimizing the
supply chain based on the carbon emission will be important in the
future as customers’ preferences will turn to low-emission
suppliers. WWL will further increase its optimization competence
with this new version of i2,” said Nils Lie, vice president of
business development, supply chain management, Wallenius Wilhelmsen
Logistics.
Lie’s colleague, Jonathan Smith, logistics network analyst at
Wallenius Wilhelmsen adds, “Being able to show our customers that
we can model carbon emissions is vital for a company like Wallenius
Wilhelmsen Logistics, that strives to lead the way environmentally.
With its global products feature, the new version of Supply Chain
Strategist will greatly facilitate such modeling.”
“Our customers are some of the world’s most prominent companies
and we’re excited to help them not only adapt to growing
sustainability concerns, but to optimize their supply chain
networks, to help give them significant competitive advantages,”
said Curtis.
