Larscom Delivers Enhanced Service and Operational Capabilities for Its eLink Integrated Access Devices Support for Fractional T1, FXO-DID, Enhanced Queuing, and Comprehensive Operations and Administration Tools Increase Bandwidth Efficiency and Enhance Ease of Management NEWARK, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Responding to service providers' need for cost-effective CPE equipment that can accommodate a wide range of enterprise services, Larscom today announced the next release of software and hardware for its popular eLink family of IADs. New capabilities include fractional T1, FXO-DID, enhanced queuing, and a host of OAM&P enhancements. With the introduction of these enhanced features, Larscom significantly extends the capabilities of its leading IAD product line. FXO Direct Inward Dial (FXO-DID) support provides up to eight FXO ports with 2-way DID support as an interface between eLink and analog PBX and key systems. The Fractional T1 DSX interface allows the connection of the eLink to digital PBX and key systems. Any-to-any DS0 mapping between the WAN T1 and FT1-DSX port and the flexible allocation of the signaling channel in PRI pass-through applications allow service providers and their business customers to get more use from their existing bandwidth. The enhanced eLink queuing mechanism maintains bandwidth for critical applications by prioritizing IP traffic with per-flow equitable bandwidth allocation and shaping. In multi-user environments, this prevents bandwidth-intensive applications from reducing other traffic streams. Additionally, the new operations and administration tools simplify maintenance and diagnostics with: comprehensive monitoring of CPU utilization, Frame Relay uplink statistics, and Network Address Translation (NAT); more finely-tuned control of IP sessions with a configurable NAT expiration timer; more efficient use of IP address capacity with classless IP addressing; more convenient management of devices installed behind the eLink at the customer premises with Telnet client support for pass-through access; and better uniform, secure management access to the IAD with a configurable IP loopback interface. "The new capabilities extend the eLink's price/performance advantages," said Narsi Kodukula, Senior Product Manager. "Service providers can more easily integrate eLink into a wider variety of enhanced service offerings and more efficiently manage those services." Larscom's enhanced eLink IAD capabilities are available for immediate delivery.
