Layne Christensen announces new energy infrastructure business

Layne Christensen (LAYN -0.8%) unveils a new energy infrastructure business and construction of a new high-capacity water pipeline system to serve fracking operations in the Delaware Basin.

LAYN says the $18M water pipeline and infrastructure system will have initial production and delivery capacity of 100K bbl/day of non-potable water, with significant capacity to support further expansion from both additional water sources and delivery points.

LAYN expects water sales to begin during Q3 and for financial returns from the system to be immediately accretive to cash flow and earnings once operational.

Will they be eligible for grants from the Bill Obama signed today on water? Because if they wrote it for municipals its not going to help them having a contract with cities (the city gets the grant) or would it? Just assuming someone here knows... saves the reuse of time doing the same thing...

Took advantage of the buying opp and grabbed this in the 12.60 to 12.90 range. The backlog on the water utility business is currently larger than the company's entire market cap. They are initiating cost-cutting measures in face of a slowdown on their mining equipment division, but today the miners rallied and LAYN rallied with them, a good sign.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, June 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Layne Christensen Company (LAYN) ("Layne" or the "Company") announced today that it will file a Form 12b-25 Notification of Late Filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission with regard to its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the fiscal first quarter ended April 30, 2014 (Q1 FY 2015). The Company requires additional time to complete its operational analysis and financial outlook in order to complete relevant disclosures for inclusion in the Company's Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q. As a result, the Company could not complete its Q1 FY 2015 Form 10-Q in a timely manner without incurring unreasonable burden and expense.

Accordingly, the release of Layne's financial results for Q1 FY 2015 and the investor conference call scheduled for Monday, June 9 have been rescheduled.

Layne will now issue its financial results for Q1 FY 2015 on Monday, June 16, 2014 before the opening of the stock market. Management will conduct a conference call that day at 11:00 am ET / 10:00 am CT to discuss the results.
