ThinkGeek Turns Boy's Room Into Geek Paradise On 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Finale
May 17 2010 - 7:00AM
ThinkGeek, a Geeknet (Nasdaq:LNUX) company and the premier retailer
for the global geek community, joined forces with ABC's Emmy
Award-winning program, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to outfit
the room of Jacob Williams with ThinkGeek toys, gadgets, clothing
and other products.
The Williams' home was re-built during the May 16 season finale
episode of "Extreme Makeover" which aired on ABC at 8p.m. (ET).
"When Extreme Makeover needed high-tech accessories, we knew
just where to go," said Diane Korman, senior producer for the
show. "ThinkGeek stepped-up to help us make a dream come true
for the Williams Family and we think the room is totally
extreme."
Understanding Jacob's fascination with all things
technology-related, ThinkGeek equipped him with an assortment of
the company's unique and innovative products. Room
necessities such as the Matrix Cube Alarm Clock, Star Wars R2-D2
Trashcan, Space Age Ant Habitat, K9 MeteorLight LED Ball and more
than 40 other items from ThinkGeek were provided.
"ThinkGeek is proud to be involved with the rebuilding of the
Williams' home," said Caroline Offutt, President and General
Manager of ThinkGeek. "We pride ourselves on being actively
involved in the global geek community, but this is really
special. We hope Jacob and his family enjoy these products
and their home for years to come."
Each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is self-contained
and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily
take at least four months to achieve, involving a team of
designers, contractors and several hundred workers who all have
just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house - every single
room, plus the exterior and landscaping. The result should be
a decorator's delight…if it can be done in time.
