rwwine,

I expect a few volatile days on the horizon. It'll probably dip in the morning while waiting for the oral 621 abstract later in the day.

I would let the dust settle before entering.

good luck

Just an incredible story!!! Congratulations sir. It’s had a little pull back from almost clipping $21. Presently would you care to comment if it’s still a decent buy today? I see they increased dosing and are awaiting results. Thanks jbog.

rwwine,

Great watching your lottery ticket run sir!

You should feel it from my side. Next Tuesday, which is a day after their ASH presentation, will mark my one year anniversary and I can't wait to have the option to shed some.

As of this past Friday my original Tranche which cost me around $15.5K is worth $1.02 million on paper. I also have two more tranches that go long term in Jan and Feb.

If you break it down, my original tranche has gained $2811 every day for the last year or >18% per day for 365 days.

It's still only on paper and I'm waiting for the fat lady to sing.

Good Luck

rwwine,

Back in 2016 I was reading the pre ASCO abstracts and Trillium had what I thought a very exciting CD-47 phase abstract with the drug used by way of Inter-tumor injection. I bought 2K shares prior to the meeting in the $7 range. The conference was a huge success and within a couple of months the topped out around $16. The stock then started dropping as rumors of other companies having toxic problems. I sold everything in the $12 range.

A couple of months later, the biggest player with CD47 was Celgene and they dropped their entire program because of side effects. This crushed everyone.

In late 2018 I saw that Tril was trading in the $3 range and decided that that was not right so I bought 1K shares just so I could watch it. Well that was a bad trade because the stock went from that $3 price down to around $.24.

In the first week of December 2019 Novartis announce the purchase of Arqule for $20 per share which I had a rather large holding with a basis of less than $3 but the majority of shares were short-term so I was going to get killed with taxes.

That morning I sold my Arqule and spread the proceeds around my existing stocks and while looking at my statement every stock I owned was green except Tril and that had a whopping 93% loss and was only worth around $250 dollars. At this point they were in non-compliance with Nasdaq's minimum price rules and I thought they would have to do a reverse split. All I was hoping for is that Tril would gain a nickel and if I bought enough I could get out even. I also figured the $15K investment was $8K of my money and $7K of Uncle Sam's because of taxes if the trade went bad.

Within a week of my Investment, a Company called FortySeven came out with some very interesting results on their CD47 drug and while they went from around $8 to $35 Tril went up to about $1.50. About a week later Tril made a announcement with very positive results and they jumped into the $2 range. A couple of weeks later Gilead stepped in and bought FortySeven for $4.9 Bil or $90 a share.

This was all happening in January of this year. Next, Tril did a $100 mil dollar raise with only biotech funds allowed to buy and the big boys bought in. Every raise Tril has done has been met with joy because they have been held back because of lack of cash.

When I first bought back they had $13 mil in cash and today they have $350 mil. Their MarketCap in December 2019 was $13 mil and today is $1.4 Billion

What I would suggest you look at is the CD47 space. CD47 is just like the PD or PD1 target that the current Immune Drugs go after. The key will be if they work together.

Look at ALXO and IMB along with Tril if your interested.

Good Luck

Jbog,

Thank you kindly for sharing your story and the rational behind your investment in your “lottery ticket”. Incredibly impressive gains and certainly will look again at this company.
One easy question for you, what intrigued you about this company enough to invest the $15 K originally?

Thanks again sir for your story and contribution to IHub!! Regards, Rich

jbog jbog 4 years ago
rwwine,

When I first mentioned it was my Lotto pick I really meant it, I never would have guessed this nor had I ever expected anything close to this.

The only reason I bought it was because I made a killing in Arqule when it was bought in early Dec 2020 and I figured I could use a tax loss if it didn't pan out.

My original Tranche was a mere $15k which has grown to $739K in 9 months.

I'm not one to pump stocks, basically because you or I or anyone else on these boards could move it, but I really think TRIL has a long way to go.

They are still in PH 1 dose escalation studies and at their report this week they are not at MTD yet and are reporting 50% RR on patients that had 3 to 9 previous therapies (They also reported a couple of CR's along the way). The one thing you have to note is that their drugs were never ever supposed to used as an mono. Combo trials will start as soon as they find the MTD.

As always good luck and do your homework.

From Jan 21st:

OT: funindasun,

Don't tell you know who or it will ruin his night.

TRIL down .35cents after hours and now 2.95 a share. They also are announcing they are having an offering of common and preferred stock.

Their EPS is minus 2.45 a share now.. Just wait until the new shares are issued. Dilution on the way.

Boing X 2

Boing you were right and I should have listened. Tril did a raise last night and the stock is crashing a massive 6% so far today down to $13.25.

I'd thought they'd talk about the whole value of the company instead of the price per share.

In other words J&J says $6 Billion Momenta says, nah we want $7 Billion (really should have been at least $10 Billion). Then they mutually arrive halfway at $6.5 Billion. And it so happen it works out to $52.50 a share.

It works like that in real estate deals. I thought it would be the same.

imnot6 imnot6 4 years ago
FWIW there's a description of (and obviously from the point of view of the principals) the J&J/Momenta discussions leading to the offer on pp 24-27 of the "Offer to Purchase" document that accompanies the tender offer. Among other things, Momenta was pushing for $54 after the initial J&J $50 offer. Apparently that sweet, sweet $0.50 on top of a split-the-difference did the trick.

Timing trades?
As posted earlier - at the 2019 annual meeting, CW stated face to face that their 3 top programs were worth $6B EACH. Furthermore, an analyst had quoted that for each billion the stock would rise $30 PS. Simple math?

BTW at their last QCC, CW stated that Necuparanib would be tested on Covid 19. Time has passed - what were the results?

They take care of their own. What else is new?

Watch RVNC & ENTA.

funindasun,

Timing trades? Not me. Just saying other people selling not knowing what was going on since April.

I sold 200 shares in Jan. and none since. I would be very upset if it was after April and a potential deal being worked on and not being aware that was going on.

It'll come... imo.

I imagine it's not easy to spit out a bid of this magnitude.

As far as insider sales, I think no one knew, except CW, that a merger was in the works. This was all BOD.

Through all this I hope Momenta won't suppress the development of Necuparanib nor hide the results. It's been more than a couple of weeks since we heard that it works on Respiratory Synctial Virus. It is due for another update.

funindasun,

If this is all correct I am more than hacked.

Going on for several months and not letting the shareholders know. Where the heck is the board in all this in protecting the shareholders.

I venture to say if this is all correct, there are going to be more suits. How could they be selling their stock to their advantage if there were negotiations going on since April.

Imagine many shareholders buying or selling from Aprit until now not knowing what was going on.

Disgusting

Your confidence aside, I found the lack of faith in competitive bidding disturbing.

Could very well explain the insider sales if they expected an upcoming dilution.

A very interesting turn of events.
Thanks for the link imnot6.

-There's so much to read between the lines, including CW's ineptitude, stock manipulation, and other suitors (which the article seem to downplay) to name a few.

-There's a game here. Everyone now know J&J's hand. It's just a pair of deuce. Craig has jokers (pun intended) Necuparanib and HDFN voucher.

I am confident that someone will raise the bid within a couple of weeks or so.imo.

Maybe the insider sales and supposed manipulation that accompanied the pps drop following the rise into the 40s after the positive nipocalimab data was because the J&J (or any) acquisition was in question and a near-term cash raise was possible instead.

funindasun,

Tried that for my knee replacement. It is too expensive in AZ. First you have to pay 125 for a doctor to get you a card and then pay 150 to the state for the card and you have to do it each year. They you can buy product.

Do use CBD Balm and it stopped the knee pain, after six months of pain, in one day.

See the house might decriminalize shortly. We shall see. I found the best for me was the blueberry terra bites with THC. Worked the best on controlling my pain. Gave up my card so would have to go to CA to gat any now. I gave up smoking so don't like the vape and other got me punchy.

Just going with the CBD for now.

It is a shame that THC works well and I can take two Tramadol and get no help. They don't want to give anything stronger. Like my GP say's you are not going to get addicted if you are in pain. I don't like taking pills but would like the pain to stop.

“On September 2, 2020, a purported stockholder of Momenta filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware against Momenta and its directors, captioned Elaine Wang v. Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Inc., et al., Case No. 1:20-cv-01175-UNA. The complaint names as defendants Momenta and each member of the Momenta Board. The complaint alleges that the Schedule 14D-9 omits material information or contains misleading disclosures and that, as a result, (a) all defendants violated Section 14(e) of the Exchange Act, (b) all defendants violated Section 14(d)(4) of the Exchange Act and (c) each member of the Momenta Board violated Section 20(a) of the Exchange Act. The complaint seeks, among other things, (i) injunctive relief preventing the consummation of the transactions contemplated by the Merger Agreement, (ii) rescissory damages or rescission in the event that the transactions contemplated by the Merger Agreement have already been consummated, (iii) damages and (iv) plaintiff’s attorneys’ and experts’ fees and expenses. Momenta believes the claims asserted in the complaint are without merit.

Additional complaints may be filed against Momenta, the Momenta Board, Johnson & Johnson and/or Purchaser in connection with the transactions contemplated by the Merger Agreement, the Schedule TO and the Schedule 14D-9. If such additional complaints are filed, absent new or different allegations that are material, Johnson & Johnson and Purchaser will not necessarily announce such additional complaints.”

fundindasun,

Surgery went well and doing better every day.

Little sore today after going to our son's house yesterday. Forty minute drive each way and even though
I put a pillow on the seat I am sore today. Did PT this am. and now get a four day break.

Yes his dog is sharp as a tack. She doesn't miss a trick. Just have fun playing with her and she is
such a great dog.

Sounds like your dog is sharp also.

I am not the one in the suit. Just sitting back like you are to see what happens.

Glad I am getting four days rest. They are stingy with drugs now and two tramadol don't even touch the pain. Like my GP say's if you are in pain you won't get addicted. I hate taking pain pills and stop as soon as I have no major pain.

I hope all have a great long weekend. I would not be unhappy if the deal didn't go through.

funindasun,

Thank you. We do like Margaritas.

Some day before too long wife and I want to come back to the big island.

SW airlines is making it cheap to say the least and we have a ton of points.

If that happens we might well meet up. We have a relative who owns a big house there but the land is worth more than the house so they really don't like to meet up at their house. Would not bother us.

Had PT this am. and then came home and let our neighbor upstairs condo wash his patio before I washed ours below. Got all the summer dirt and dust off so we both can enjoy as it get cooler later this month.

Going to our sons house tomorrow to help bath his great Belgium Malanois and have some eats. Need to get back as our cleaning lady comes Friday.

His baby girl doesn't like the bath but knows the treats follow so she behaves. She is a cutie pie.

Her nose doesn't miss a trick. She will not lay by the oven other than when the wife is cooking leg of lamb. Then she lays in front of the oven to guard it and make sure she get some lamb. Funny to watch.

Thanks for parsing this out jbog.

Clearly undervalued to me.
-GS did some BS, dangled a carrot at CW. and whammo he took it hook line and sinker.

-There was no need to sell the company.

-It looks like the voucher and Necuparanib are not in the equation.

-This should give a guideline to competing bids and ambulance chasing lawyers.

-And Jo Ann WoW!... is that $10 mill I see?
she eclipsed Manning and Arroyo.

Funinda sun,

I was wrong in stating Craigs take home pay,

In this deal it far exceeds $100 mil not counting the advance pay, benefits etc. He might even have a tax true -up but I didn't want to search that far.

Goldman says M281 WAS WORTH ANYWHERE FROM $35-$42 PER SHARE, M254 $5-$6, M710 $1.5, M230 $1 AND GALOPIA @ $0.25. Cash WAS WORTH $3.50 EXPENSES AT ($7) AND OTHERS AT ($2).

THEY SAY A FAIR DEAL IS AROUND $40-$49 PER SHARE.

I always thought that you would owe no penalties or fines if you pay 90% of your current tax obligation OR if you pay 100% of the preceding year tax obligation.

It used to be 85% but changed to 90% in 2019.

funindasun,

Thank you,

I think some here are going to be in for a surprise here if this closes before Dec. if not in an IRA type investment.

They bought back in and might not make the one year for capital gains.

Hope they are thinking ahead to make sure they pay their estimated taxes if not long term gains.

People tend not to think about it and we are close to the end of the year.

They are likely to face a much bigger tax bill if they don't make the one year.

As my CPA said, the IRS looks at how much you pay in estimated taxes, each quarter, even if it all hits the last quarter in deciding penalties.

No fear here.

Sorry. I read your post as "no hanging", rather than "No. I'm hanging ..."

I don't know US tax laws. In Canada, A capital gain is a capital gain regardless of how long the stock has been owned.

IN any case, your CPA would certainly know the law or be held accountable if he gave you wrong advice.

Given that it's already September, Oct 1 is probably safe for you. I wouldn't expect the deal to close or fail before then.

Again congratulations on the paper win and best of luck in making it real next month.

Ian.

IanFromSi,

A chance I have to take. I can't sell before OCT 1st due to numerous considerations. One being I don't want to owe the state estimated taxes until the last quarter.

If they break up I still own the stock. Another win in my opinion even if a temp drop in price.

I saw someone say you have to own the stock in Dec to get a long term capital gain.

From my research I believe the rule sates you only need to own the stock over one year and not have to sell it on a specific month to qualify as a long term gain.

My CPA didn't argue I didn't have a long term capital gain and I hope to sell or close or what ever after Oct 1st.
