MRO Software Inc. (Nasdaq:MROI), the leading provider of asset and
service management solutions and Xtivity Inc. an industry leader in
inventory optimization solutions announced that their joint
solution has been successfully implemented at Wescast Industries
Inc. Wescast, a premier tier-one manufacturer in the automotive
industry, is improving Maintenance Repair and Operations (M-R-O)
inventory fill rates and slashing M-R-O inventory costs using the
combined capabilities of Maximo Enterprise Suite and the xIO
Inventory Optimizer (xIO(TM)) service from Xtivity. The xIO is
available from MRO Software as an enhancement to its Maximo(R)
Enterprise Suite asset and service management software. Bill
Brophy, a member of Wescast's Materials and Procurement Team, is
impressed with the results, saying, "We knew immediately that
partnering with MRO Software would be a win for everyone. Wescast
is proof positive as we are seeing a 10% increase in M-R-O fill
rates and expect inventory investment to decrease by 16.5% over
three years." As Brophy explains, these results were accurately
predicted, in advance, through an analysis of his procurement data
by Xtivity. "From very early on, we knew what our projected
inventory savings and fill rate gains would be. We chose to have
Xtivity crunch all the numbers for us. This allowed our team to see
the positive impact of the service up front," he says. The xIO
service examines a company's transactional inventory data and
calculates the appropriate Order Point and Order Quantity for every
line item in an M-R-O inventory, using a scientific approach with
proven statistical methods. The service is particularly proficient
in the management of critical spares. It maximizes fill rates,
reduces total inventory cost and prevents the ongoing purchase of
items that will become dead in the future. Brophy points to the xIO
service's ability to immediately identify the movement of each line
item as a major benefit for Wescast. "After implementing the new
Order Point and Order Quantities provided by the xIO service, our
excess and dead inventory items were identified," he says. "This
will allow us to recoup capital." According to John Cowan,
Xtivity's President, ease-of-use is a main benefit of the service
among Maximo customers. "A client simply uploads Maximo data to the
secure xIO online service, which resides outside their firewall.
xIO examines every line item in the M-R-O inventory and returns
optimized Order Points and Order Quantities," says Cowan. Joe
Catalanotti, Sr. Alliances Manager at MRO Software added, "Today,
customers like Wescast benefit from Maximo's ability to streamline
parts and materials management across all asset classes. The
interface between xIO and Maximo is seamless and can be automated.
Using Xtivity's inventory analysis and optimization tools, our
customers can also use existing Maximo inventory data to further
calculate Order Points and Order Quantities that are reported
directly into Maximo, so users can easily realize extended cost
savings." The xIO service technology has been delivering measurable
results in industry since 1996. The Xtivity - MRO Software
alliance, which was announced late last year, reflects the growing
demand for the complimentary value offered by the two company's
flagship offerings; Xtivity's xIO and MRO Software's Maximo
