WALTHAM, Mass., April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Novell announced
today the general availability of Novell® Identity Manager 4
Standard Edition to help customers secure the enterprise while
controlling costs and meeting regulatory demands. Part of Novell's
WorkloadIQ™ portfolio, Novell Identity Manager 4 Standard
Edition delivers a consistent, cloud-ready framework for managing
identities across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
Novell Identity Manager 4 Standard Edition is the second
offering in the Identity Manager 4 family, a portfolio of solutions
developed to address each customer's unique identity management
challenges. Simple systems integration and automation capabilities
continue to be a major consideration for IT organizations. Novell
Identity Manager 4 Standard Edition combines automated, rule-based
user provisioning with current-state reporting, enhanced
scalability and tight integration with Microsoft* SharePoint* and
SAP* ERP systems. This integration also helps to secure the cloud
by connecting to services such as Salesforce.com* and GoogleApps*.
Novell Identity Manager 4 Standard Edition enables organizations to
be open and agile across physical, virtual and cloud
environments.
According to Rencana, an independent IT consulting group, ease
of integration is the most significant factor in differentiating
TCO between identity and access management (IAM) products. In a
recent TCO study, Rencana found that Novell's out-of-the-box
provisioning connectors require up to 75 percent less systems
integrator time to deploy than competitive products. Additionally,
Novell IAM products require an average of 81 percent less time to
generate required audit reports.
For California Highway Patrol,
automation using Novell Identity Manager has nearly eliminated the
time-intensive manual processes related to password management and
has reduced the number of passwords users have to remember by 75
percent. "Each time a new user is added, they automatically receive
access to the different applications they need based on pre-defined
user groups," said Bruce McLeod,
system architect of Network Services at the California Highway Patrol. "That's a huge
timesaver for our IT staff and has strengthened security by
ensuring the right people have access to the right
applications."
With the release of Identity Manager 4 Standard Edition, Novell
completes the Identity Manager 4 family of products first announced
in May 2010. The full family of
products helps customers to reduce costs with seamless
enterprise-wide user provisioning and enhances security and
compliance with real-time user activity monitoring. Identity
Manager 4 Advanced Edition, released in October of last year, has
already gained significant market traction with customers such as
St. Vincent Healthcare, Rackspace and the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency.
"Enterprises need the confidence that their business is secure
and that they can meet the increasingly complex regulatory
landscape without sacrificing business agility or incurring
overwhelming cost," said Jim Ebzery,
senior vice president and general manager, Security, Management and
Operating Platforms, Novell. "Effective user identity
management is core to creating an Identity-Infused Enterprise.
The Novell Identity Manager 4 family of products provides our
customers an efficient, unified and automated approach to identity
and compliance management in physical, virtual and cloud
environments."
