Peak International to Lead Environment Protection for Semiconductor Companies
June 12 2007 - 8:30AM
PR Newswire (US)
HONG KONG, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Peak International
Limited (NASDAQ:PEAK), a market leader in plastics design,
engineering, production and supply chain solutions, today announced
that its plastics recycling division, SemiCycle (TM), had recycled
over 100 million plastic trays since its inception. The company
also announced that SemiCycle would significantly increase its
activity in assisting all semiconductor companies in their plastics
recycling efforts. "SemiCycle was founded 15 years ago to help
semiconductor companies recycle their plastic waste," said Dean
Personne, Peak's president and chief executive officer. "Each of
these companies has an eco-friendly policy for many aspects of
their business and we are doing everything possible to support them
and to preserve our environment. We are committed to helping them
recycle their trays and reels regardless of the original
manufacturer." To participate, a semiconductor company simply
arranges for SemiCycle to collect its used trays. Once at
SemiCycle's facilities, the trays are carefully inspected and those
with no visible defects are cleaned and given an anti-static
coating, if appropriate. These recycled trays are then packed and
stored at the warehousing facilities as inventories pending sales
to customers. Recycled trays that do not meet industry quality
requirements, or for which there is insufficient demand, are
recycled for other uses. "This is true win-win," Dean Personne
further noted. "We work with our clients to preserve the
environment from unnecessary waste and SemiCycle's semiconductor
clients have an almost hands-free disposal process that supports
their green initiatives." Founded in 1992, SemiCycle was
established to ensure that re-useable valuable plastic packaging
material did not get destroyed or end up in landfills. To date the
company has collected and processed over 15,000 tons of plastic
resin which did not get buried or incinerated and released into the
environment. About SemiCycle SemiCycle is the leader in
semiconductor industry recycling. The company collects most types
of hard plastic semiconductor trays and processes them in a plant
in Shenzhen, the PRC. Founded in 1992, the company has processed
over 100 million trays and saved over 15,000 tons of plastic
material from entering the environment. About Peak International
