Telefonica Germany Selects Redback Networks for Next-Generation Broadband Network; Germany's Largest Wholesale Provider of DSL S

Redback Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:RBAK), a leading provider of
next-generation broadband networking systems, today announced that
Germany's largest wholesale provider of DSL services has selected
Redback's SmartEdge(R) Service Gateway platform to upgrade and
extend their wholesale DSL service. Redback is working through a
local reseller to implement the solution. Faced with increasing
demand for further capacity in the network, Telefonica Germany
sought to enhance both its network and competitive position with a
highly scalable and reliable broadband platform. The Redback
SmartEdge Service Gateway systems, equipped with high capacity
interfaces, are being deployed throughout the Telefonica Germany
broadband network to perform the switching of subscriber initiated
broadband sessions to various resale ISPs. "The SmartEdge Service
