Re-imagined Reading Cinemas with
TITAN LUXE at Cal Oaks Plaza debuts new menu &
Spotlight, in-cinema waiter service
Reading International, Inc. (NASDAQ: RDI) is proud to announce
that it has launched Spotlight, its first U.S. based
in-cinema, seat-side waiter service at Reading Cinemas at Cal Oaks
Plaza in Murrieta, California. The Company also announced that it
has launched the theater’s newly re-vamped Food and Drink Menu
designed by Chef Santos Loo. To celebrate the launch of
Spotlight and its new Food and Drink Menu, starting Monday,
July 2, Reading Cinemas at Cal Oaks will offer any guest who sees a
movie in Spotlight, 25% off their entire Spotlight
food and drink order on each Monday in July (i.e. July 2, July 9,
July 16, July 23 and July 30).
Movie-lovers and foodies now have the luxury of either ordering
from the new menu at the concession bars, or to elevate their
moviegoing experience by skipping the concession lines and enjoying
Spotlight, available in six of the theater’s 17 recently
renovated auditoriums. Located on the left wing of the theater,
each Spotlight auditorium features an intimate environment
of thirty-six luxury recliner seats.
To fully enjoy the Spotlight experience, guests are
encouraged to arrive 25–30 minutes prior to showtime. A
Spotlight waiter will accompany them to their seats,
take their order, and deliver their food and drinks before the
start of the film in order for the audience to enjoy the show
without interruption.
Also new to the re-imagined theater is a creatively updated menu
from Reading International Chef Santos Loo. The L.A.-based chef's
career choice was inspired by his grandparents’ Chinese-Peruvian
fusion restaurant in Peru, as well as his time providing
culinary support to celebrity chefs at the Food Network. Chef Loo’s
new menu offers a variety of freshly prepared
food complemented by a selection of local and international
wines, craft beers and cocktails, as well as handcrafted desserts
perfectly paired with gourmet tea, coffee, and espresso drinks from
Intelligentsia, one of the finest coffee roasters in the U.S.
“I’m very pleased to have this opportunity to put a creative
spin to traditional theater fare,” said Chef Loo. “It’s a pleasure
to work with the different communities and be able to put a unique
local stamp on our menus helping modify the concept of ‘dinner and
a movie,’ to ‘dinner with your movie.’”
In addition to traditional concessions, the new menu includes
expanded options for breakfast (served all day), lunch, dinner, and
shareable in-betweens. The new menu includes items like Avocado
Toast; a Chipotle Avocado Egg Sandwich; a Charcuterie & Cheese
Board; Caesar, Chicken Ranch, Kale Tomato, and Mediterranean
Chopped Salads; Flatbread Pizzas; Specialty Burgers & Bites;
Potato Chip-Crusted Chicken Tenders; Grilled Cheese with rosemary
sage-bread; the BBQ Smoked Brisket Grinder; Beer Battered Sweet
Onion Rings and six house-made dipping sauces to accompany various
items. Guests will discover an array of delectable desserts to
round off the menu including Chocolate Cake à la Mode, Ice Cream
Sundaes, Fresh Baked Cookies, Nutella Pizza, and Ice Box Strawberry
Shortcake with a snickerdoodle crust. Complete food, drink and
dessert menus are available at

“Santos’ creative flair and expertise provides the culinary
vision from the concession stand to Spotlight,” said
Terri Moore, vice president of operations for Reading
International. “We’ve had exceptional feedback from our guests on
the expanded food options, as well as the generous selection of
craft beer, wine, and cocktails.”
To sweeten
the experience, Spotlight guests
receive 50% off any handcrafted dessert to be enjoyed in the lobby
following their movie. Featuring a sophisticated design by Los
Angeles architect Fred Dagdagan, the re-imagined Reading Cinemas at
Cal Oaks features a bright and airy lobby.
“Our sleek bar and lounge areas provide patrons a comfortable
place to gather,” said Dolly Woodland, general manager of Reading
Cinemas at Cal Oaks Plaza. “The lobby lounge has quickly become a
trendy spot to relax and enjoy a coffee and dessert before or after
the film.”
The intimate and service-oriented cinematic setting of a
Spotlight auditorium can also be a perfect venue for
exclusive group events for employee outings, book clubs, church
groups, client appreciation, area sports teams, extended families
or friends night out. Guests can craft their own special event by
reserving tickets for the entire auditorium online, on the Reading
Cinemas App, or at the full-service Concierge in the lobby of the
theater.
In addition to quality food and drink, Reading Cinemas hosts
special value programs designed to appeal to a variety of tastes:
“Coffee Club,” offered every day, providing a complimentary
fresh-brewed small Intelligentsia coffee to guests attending any
show before noon, is the perfect excuse to try a fresh pastry or
breakfast in Spotlight; the “Cry Baby Matinee,” the first
matinee every Tuesday, providing a complimentary coffee to parents
and caregivers who want a worry free day at the movies with their
child; and “Baby Boomer Wednesdays,” all day, offering anyone age
55 and over a specially-priced ticket and free popcorn.
Reading Cinemas at Cal Oaks Plaza is located at 41090 California
Oaks Road at the intersection of California Oaks and Monroe.
Tickets are available at the Concierge and lobby kiosks, or guests
