"STAMP" (Seven Technologies for Advanced Mail Protection) --
designed to comprehensively improve email security by bringing
market research, industry architecture requirements and solutions
to the forefront. Organizations are faced with a plethora of email
challenges, many of which negatively impact businesses and
productivity. This includes spam surges, malware threats, sensitive

Secure Computing STAMP Initiative
Based on extensive customer experience, a commissioned study
from IDC focused on determining how companies are responding to
messaging use, and global threat data from TrustedSource.org,
Secure Computing has identified the core security components and
architecture necessary to effectively combat spam, data leakage and
blended threats. The company's objective is to leverage its
security expertise and ongoing research to help businesses
implement a proactive security architecture that can protect their
environments as existing messaging threats increase and new threats
arise.
"Our recent survey that looks at North American organizations
with 500 employees or more, confirms that organizations are not
doing enough to stay safe. Unfortunately they are depending on last
generation solutions from multiple vendors to fight organized cyber
criminals," said Atri Chatterjee, senior vice president of Secure
Computing. "Even in today's challenging economic times, the study
shows that executives recognize the importance of email security
and organizations are willing to invest in new solutions. Our
initiative provides information and resources that help
organizations understand the evolving threat environment and take
steps to proactively protect themselves."
The survey found that while inbound threats have evolved, only a
small portion of organizations are well protected. Unfortunately,
60 percent of organizations were found to be performing dismally
and allowing more than 5 percent of email spam into the network.
Additionally, nearly half of organizations suffered email data
leaks, and while most organizations were very concerned about this,
only 28 percent have taken steps to alleviate risk. Finally, the
survey discovered that organizations are looking for better ways of
delivering email security, and over half of the respondents
believed that a hybrid solution approach would deliver the best
email security for both inbound and outbound threats.
Seven Requirements for Advanced Mail Protection
Secure Computing has identified the following seven key
requirements for addressing today's evolving messaging threats
effectively and as cost-effectively as possible:

5. Integrated inbound and outbound protection solution, thus reducing

6. A hybrid security application delivery architecture, enabling choice
or mix of on-premise, hosted and virtualized solutions for greater
business agility and flexibility;
7. Enterprise-ready, best-of-breed solution approach, combining
scalability with stability, ease of administration and robust reporting
capabilities to maximize and prove ROI to management.
Solutions for a Secure Next-Generation Mail Environment
The STAMP initiative has been driving Secure Computing's
next-generation messaging gateway appliance development. And in
conjunction with the launch, the company is announcing Secure Mail
6.7.1. Highlights of the new version of Secure Mail include:
1) Unprecedented inbound mail protection - Secure Mail 6.7.1 delivers
guaranteed inbound mail protection. Not only does 6.7.1 guarantee
99 percent spam detection accuracy, but Secure Mail's best practice
configurations employ real-time dynamic spam classifier and threat
response updates that take advantage of the TrustedSource
multi-protocol reputation ratings. The new version reacts faster
than any other solution to deliver zero-hour threat detection and
is the only solution to guarantee effectiveness.
2) Complete data loss prevention for email - Secure Mail provides
complete data loss prevention for email. Out of the box, 6.7.1 now
delivers protection for both privacy and intellectual property. By
bundling with Secure Mail's Advanced Compliance engine (previously
available separately), 6.7.1 basic email protection boasts five
content detection techniques, seven extensible policy actions, and
multiple encryption options.
3) Administrative empowerment - Secure Mail is built to empower mail
administrators to deliver rapid ROI and investment protection without
compromising security or compliance requirements. Secure Mail 6.7.1
boosts scalability by offering 200 percent performance improvement over
previous versions of Secure Mail. In addition, it is the first delivery
of Secure Computing's Hybrid Delivery Architecture for Email. Customers
purchasing email protection on 6.7.1 will have full service portability
to future Secure Mail virtual appliance and hosted service offerings,

enhanced administrative usability and reporting, allowing
