SigmaTel, Inc. (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia
semiconductors, announced today the introduction of a wireless
digital photo frame, Sharp multifunction printer and a Dye-Sub
Photo Printer reference platform. The wireless digital photo frame
enables users to send and share photos by simply using emails and
RSS photo feeds. This innovative product, createdbyPF Digital
Inc. using SigmaTel technology, connects to the Internet via a home
Wi-Fi network and receives photos sent by users from anywhere in
the world via emails and RSS feeds. In addition to its networked
frame feature, it alsosupports photo viewing locallyfrom a
on-board card reader. eStarling Frame is available today through
Thinkgeek. (www.thinkgeek.com) SigmaTel is demonstrating Wireless
Digital Photo Frame technology supporting Microsofts Windows Media
Connect at CES. This innovative technology allows the Photo Frame
to become a connected Digital Media Renderer, streaming images and
other media from a Microsoft Windows XP or Vista compatible PC that
supports Windows Media Connect. This is part of SigmaTels strategy
of promoting connected media devices across all product categories,
and is a great way to share images and other media within the home.
This technology will be available for SigmaTel Photo Frame
development partners in Q107 as part of our Software Development
Kit (SDK). Sharp Electronics, a leader in electronic products, has
announced their new models of their Multifunctional Facsimile
MIRAKURU (Miracle), UX-MF60CL/CW, UX-MF50CL/CW, UX-MF25CL/CW.
This innovative product uses SigmaTel technology, and enables color
LCD, network printing, easy transfer of photos from cell phones,
and Fax to Email an industry-first feature used for sending
received faxes directly to an email address. "We worked with Sharp
to launch the Sharp MIRAKURU multifunction printers in Japan in
October," said Phil Pompa, interim chief executive officer.
"SigmaTel's goal is to add value to our customers end products,
leading the consumer electronics market in features and
capabilities. SigmaTel enabled Sharp's customers to print, scan,
and convert faxes to email using the broadband capability of the
printer. Photos can be printed from memory cards, digital cameras
or from mobile phones." Photo Printers are compact multimedia
devices that allow consumers to easily print high quality
photographs from cameras and other imaging devices. SigmaTel offers
low-cost controller solutions for both Inkjet-based and
Dye-Sublimation-based Photo Printers. SigmaTel-based products
support many advanced features such as direct print from memory
cards and digital cameras, graphic LCD displays, and wireless
connectivity options that provide flexible image transfer to the
printer. SigmaTel is now offering a complete solution for Photo
Printers that allows our partners to develop market leading
products and meet demanding time-to-market requirements. Our Photo
Printer Evaluation Kit includes a Dye-Sub Photo Printer hardware
reference platform that operates with an off-the-shelf Photo
