Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (FCS) has joined the bandwagon with its FAN54015 charger that allows charging electronic devices through USB ports. The charger helps designers maintain safety, accuracy, efficiency, and solution size for mobile devices batteries.

The FAN54015 is a single-cell Lithium-ion (Li-ion) charger that can be used to charge devices like cell phones, smart phones, tablets, gaming devices and digital cameras. It uses a highly efficient eco-friendly, 3MHz DC-DC buck converter to reduce charging time and moderate heat dissipation. Also, the battery’s float voltage can be programmed from 3.5V to 4.44V to support the lithium battery technologies.

The FAN54015 device protects the battery and increases longevity, expanding usage time for mobile devices. It supports battery charging in three phases: pre-conditioning, constant current and constant voltage.

The charger minimizes charging time and solution cost. The device is comparatively cooler than other devices and provides 94% efficiency in USB-OTG (on-the-go) regulator.
