Symmetricom Demonstrates Multi-protocol Synchronization Solutions at Carrier Ethernet World Congress and ISPCS
September 20 2010 - 8:00AM
Business Wire
Symmetricom®, Inc. (NASDAQ:SYMM), a worldwide leader in precise
time and frequency technologies, announced today that it will
participate in two key timing conferences and technical
interoperability events this month. At both Carrier Ethernet World
Congress (CEWC), Sept. 20-23 at the Hilton Warsaw Hotel and
Convention Centre, Warsaw, Poland, and the 2010 International IEEE
Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization for Measurement,
Control and Communication (ISPCS), Sept. 27-Oct. 1 at the Sheraton
Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, N.H., Symmetricom will demonstrate
the interoperability of its synchronization platforms, as well as
exhibit its comprehensive suite of timing solutions. In addition,
Symmetricom experts will speak at CEWC on mobile backhaul
management and at ISPCS on load and packet delay variation.
At CEWC, Symmetricom will present its multi-protocol solutions
at the EANTC Interoperability Showcase, which features live
demonstrations and highlights the compatibility of Carrier Ethernet
networks and devices of participating vendors. The primary
reference clock for the entire hot staging and testing event was
provided by Symmetricom’s CsIII cesium reference standard. Other
Symmetricom products featured in this event include the
TimeProvider® 5000 grandmaster clock, TimeProvider® 500 translator,
SSU 2000e synchronization supply unit and the TimeMonitor
measurement and analysis tool. Interoperability test results are
provided in a white paper by EANTC.
Also at CEWC, Symmetricom experts will provide their insights at
several speaking engagements. Karim Traore, senior systems
architect, will participate in a panel session on Managing
Synchronization in an Ethernet Mobile Backhaul Solution on Day 2 of
the conference, Sept. 22 at 14:20. In addition, Mike Vizzi, Channel
Marketing Manager, will present IEEE 1588 (Precision Time Protocol
or PTP) interoperability test results during the tour of the
testbed. As part of the CEWC exhibition, Symmetricom will display
its carrier-class, standards-based synchronization solutions,
including its new line of embedded solutions, which features the
SCi 2000 Embedded Software Clock. Other products being exhibited
are TimeAnalyzer measurement and testing tools and the TimePictra
management platform.
“As a world leader in precise timing, it’s exciting for us to
demonstrate our solutions and their extensive interoperability
capabilities,” said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing at
Symmetricom. “As our customers look for advanced synchronization
solutions to address mobile backhaul and the migration to 4G, our
products are uniquely positioned to meet these new technology
demands and maintain the high quality and standards compliance that
our customers depend on.”
Symmetricom will also participate in the ISPCS Plugfest Sept.
27-28 at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab in
Durham, N.H. The Plugfest provides an opportunity to test and
demonstrate device and system interoperability and to resolve
compatibility issues. Symmetricom products featured in the Plugfest
include the TimeProvider 5000 server and the TimeProvider 500
client, both part of a comprehensive, end-to-end IEEE 1588 solution
for next generation network packet-based timing and frequency.
At ISPCS, Greg Dowd, staff scientist at Symmetricom, will give a
poster presentation on “A New Probe to Measure Dynamic Network
Load,” on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 15:00. Based on an original paper
by Lee Cosart, Symmetricom senior technologist, this presentation
will discuss the effect of load and packet delay variation on the
performance of packet-timing protocols, such as PTP.
